dial-up

my wife is going to be buying me the game for christmas next week, and I no longer have cable modem, I have dial up again.

I was wondering what some experiences are with dial-up, if people have had a bunch of lag that really makes it difficult to play, or if most of the time it is atleast good enough to get an enjoyable game experience out of.

thanks for any responses!

Well I have Wireless Internet. But during the days the sand is in the air blocking frequecy I have to resort back to dial up. The play on dial up seem just the same as it does on the Wireless. Now for updates that will be the main time taker for you. but plaining ahead and letting it update through the night you should be fine.

okay, this is very good news, i was searching and found other responses and they all seem to say dial up is pretty good for the game.

this is great.

and yea i know the patching is gunna suck.

i would get my cox cable internet back, but when me and my wife moved to this new place, apparently the other tennants before us had been stealing cable, and we have had free cable for 2 months.

and if i call them to order the internet, i know they will see that and will then shut it off, then not only would i be paying 40 for internet, then another 40 for cable

and right now, i'm not willing to pay all that extra money every month.
i just hope i don't get in too much trouble if they find out that it is really stolen.

ffxi is capped at 56k so really having broadband doesn't matter (except for updates and maybe zoning? i dunno somebody said zoning was slower on dial up)
