I'm at level 19, about 1000 exp from level 20. So before going to Jeuno I was wondering if I will need any fame, to be allowed to do the quest. I have already completed about 20 quests in Bastok my home city, thanks to the Auction house. If I could get a simple answer of yes or no, before I head off, I would be grateful. Plus, I would hate to waste an entire hour in walking to Jeuno for nothing. |

Its easiest to get the Gausebit Grass before you go or buy it in the AH. Make sure you have it!

the Grass is crazy expensive in Jeuno.. like 1000gil each on my server. But you can buy it in Bastok for half that (again, I'm speaking from my server, I dunno how it is on others.) If you have a few hours to burn, head over to Wadi (SW of Bastok) and kill Wadi Hares (no other kind of hare drops it, and there are other hares there... so make sure you're killing Wadi hares) It takes forever to collect 4 grasses from them, but you get a little exp for your time, as well as saving 2000-4000gil.

crane fly in meriphataud has much higher drop rate, but is much stronger than wadi hare that lvl 20 player can't solo. if u can find someone lvl 35+ or so to help u out, it's a lot easier to get them that way. or, u can form a party for that purpose. if u have nicely balanced party of 3 or 4 ppl, u can kill those flies. (if u have a thf in a party, it's better coz of their treasure hunt ability.)

no, they shouldn't be rare, unless there r others killing them for the grasses. if i recall correctly, those flies only spawn in the northern part of meriphataud.

nah, I saw a bunch when I was leaving oz too. I killed a couple just because I heard this for the first time a couple days ago, but out of like 10, no drops.

i should say u were so unlucky; no drops out of 10. w/ thf's treasure hunt ability, the drop could be almost once every 2 kills; i got 24 grasses out of 60 kills or so. even without treasure hunt, the chances r u r likely to get 1 out of 5 kills or so. but as u know, drop rate is sometimes so uncertain factor that one may drop it on the 1st kill, and that some may have to kill 30 of them to get just 1. but trust me, the overall drop rate is much higher than that of wadi hares.
