I was wondering, does anyone have any good suggestions for someone around the level of 15 to gain XP more effectivly, presumably, solo (but not neccessarily always)?
Lets say, from Bastok to San'd. Not much to the east or west of that column, but if there would be a secret great spot out there, I'm sure arrangements could be made.
I've found that the XP in the monsters I fight from day to day either give me 25-35 xp, in which I can kill many before resting, -or- I can get maybe 50-75 xp, but I would need to rest after every battle. Now with 289hp, thats a long time to rest, so I try to get the best bang for my buck. So basically, to level to 16... that requires about 3600 xp. Lets assume I get 30xp per monsters. That would be 120 monsters. It would be 144 if it was 25 xp per monster. Finally thats 48 monsters with 75 xp.
I'm just curious if anyone out there has any suggestions for a better spot? My two sources come from the Palo Mines in Bastok killing Quadavs all day (while getting money) -or- Killing the Orcs up in San'd around the Frt. Area.... both really the same xp. I have yet to find a real in-between. Its always too hard or too easy. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-11-2003, 09:25 PM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 17 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 120 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 120 Donate | I really can't stress enough how much soloing sucks in this game, for EXP. Money, yes. But for leveling, you're really better off in a group once you hit about 10. Not only can you take on tougher monsters much faster without resting, but you get to talk to people and, I think, have more fun.
Me and people from my LS have been playing in the Valkurm Dunes for a while now, and we still get great XP at level 14~15. Today, we had a group of 4 warriors, a thief (me), and a whitemage. We just kept chaining hill lizards, the occassional goblin troupe or star bat, and resting. I'd say we'd get a good 300xp before needing to rest, which isn't bad for 6 people. And that was usually only because a Goblin bombed us all down to yellow, so we'd decide to have a seat just in case got ambushed.
So really, you might think grouping would suck up your EXP, but a good group that moves quickly and works well together will take you real far. ~Matt | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-11-2003, 09:38 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 62 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 266 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 266 Donate | Yes, make some friends, its easier for all the reasons listed above. The only thing that sucks is you have to Lot the items, and sometimes you dont get what you want | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-11-2003, 09:51 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 111 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 225 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 225 Donate | Thank you both for your replies.
Yes, the Dunes, I was directed to head out there and seek a party. I was told that it really doesn't get a whole lot better than that at this current level.
It's not that I'm "anti-party", it's just that earlier, lets say from 11-15, I was able to solo the Orcs and gain alot of XP alot quicker than friends of mine who were out at the Dunes. Now, its proving that I've used up that resource and the orcs are hardly worth my time. So, as you suggested and a friend of mine, to the dunes it is.
Thanks again! | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 05:07 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2003 Posts: 238 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 729 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 729 Donate | Hmm, if you can get an excellent party then try hunting the crabs. Not only do you get amazing exp but you also have a shot at getting one of the subjob quest items. The crab apron. However, they crabs are harder than lizards and it takes party coordination if you are below 15. Choose your party wisely if you go for crabs.
Whoops, forget to add. The crabs also exist in the dunes. Near Selbina in the palm tree forests. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 06:26 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2003 Posts: 333 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 213 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 213 Donate | Tell you this in the last two days in the Dunes I have been in a party I went to the dunes with the party the first day all lvl12 finished the night we were all lvl 15 and 16. Last night went again and I went from 16-18. So to me parting gains EXP way faster then soloing. When almost all kills were from 122-192 XP per kill. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 07:53 AM | #7 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 111 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 225 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 225 Donate | Wow... Well, once I get home from class, I'll head out there and see what happens, and then I'll post my thoughts as well.
Thanks guys! | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8. The time now is 07:32 PM. | | |
