I mean they did have to probably pay a lot for FFXI and now there going to get minimal for it because everyone ran to EQ2. To me that doesnt sound like a good idea for them... | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 08:40 AM | #18 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 174 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 311 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 311 Donate | If I could afford a new pc believe me I would be playing Final Fantasy XI already. Even after they release their game they still can't stop people from leaving they have no control over that. Only problem for me is that I have been looking for a job and there is nothing that is hiring. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 08:44 AM | #19 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 740 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 14,642 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 14,642 Donate | Even though I already have the PC version, I'm still waiting for the PS2 release myself. That's where this game belonged in the first place ^^ FF games belong on a console, even if this one just happens to be completely different from the rest in the series. It's not only that, but I've said it a million times, it'll be awesome to play this game on my big screen with the PS2 ^^.
And before anyone says anything like "You could just do VIDEO OUT from your computer!" I got something to say to ya, that doesnt work well! Computers are meant to be displayed a much higher resolutions then televisions, and I tried it before when I played the import version of FFXI. You can't play FFXI right on video out from a computer, because the text is too blurry, like I said, the resolution is too high, and the text is extremely hard to make out. That would be no fun. At least with the PS2 version, the text is designed to be displayed on a television set, and is gonna be larger and clearer to see. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 08:44 AM | #20 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 174 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 311 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 311 Donate | The game is Square-Enix but the hard drive is Sony's. So Sony is stalling to keep people from buying Final Fantasy XI for a while (three months) after that Sony will finally release thier HDD. Square-Enix could make huge amounts of money over Sony and it's Everquest did I say could.... it's more than likely to happen. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 08:52 AM | #21 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 740 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 14,642 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 14,642 Donate | | Quote: | | This is true but on the other hand wouldnt they be losing a lot of money by not releasing FFXI before EQ2? EQ2 may have it's following (From players who are stupid and too stubborn to try a great game like FFXI) but FFXI still has it's fan base, and that game is not just gonna turn em away from that goal. In a way releasing the PC version first was a good thing. It gets people online talking about it and saying how much of a great game it is. This may in fact get alot of people wanting to buy it for PS2. Sony I think is just desperate. They've been in the MMORPG business for years, and have not made anything nearly as great as FFXI, and that was square's first try lol. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 08:55 AM | #22 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 240 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 77 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 77 Donate | So im betting that Sony could of released the game at the same time as the computer version but they didnt want to because they would lose popularity for EQ2 in the long run (would of made a hell of a lot more money than with EQ2 beings they charge more but oh well). If i ever found this to be true, I'd have to make a very loud complaint to Sony. That's not even cool. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 09:09 AM | #23 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 740 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 14,642 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 14,642 Donate | Like I said, it's a desperate attempt to take the spotlight. Considering though that EQ2 is a PC title, and FFXI has been release on PC. I think FFXI already has all the spotlight. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 09:18 AM | #24 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 174 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 311 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 311 Donate | correcto Oddin, I don't think many people would want to run to Everquest just after the beta of the pc and playstation 2 version had ended back in October. I am reading at Playstation 2 Final Fantasy XI forums seeing how people who played the beta couldn't get enough of it. So badly wanted to play the first version (the personal computer) because they enjoyed the beta soooooo much. I think the reason why Sony wanted to put thier beta of Everquest 2 during this time, like I stated before to keep the Playstation 2 fans of Final Fantasy XI to keep Square-Enix from getting it's true potentional amount of subcribers. It will work for a while but after that hopefully after Sony gets what they want hopefully they will release the freaking hard disk drive and let players get the game they truely desire. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-12-2003, 10:09 PM | #25 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 140 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 389 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 389 Donate | Sony would gain money if they wait because im assuming that EQ2 will be released on the PS2 also? If this is the case you obviously dont want some bastards Playing FFXI on YOUR HDD on YOUR SYSTEM and not ON YOUR GAME which causes them to loose profit but of course if its not going to be available for the PS2 then they are obviously holding out for the same reason just so people wont be busy with ffxi online and not have a chance to buy eq2....
But in which case if it was not for the PS2 wouldnt it hurt sony because they arent selling HDD's? anyhow? im confuzzling myself muahahha:confused: | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
