I've really no idea about the NA release. I intend to buy the Japanese PC version. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-07-2003, 01:38 AM | #47 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 70 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 2,464 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,464 Donate | As of now there is no PvP in FFXI and no plans (that I've heard of) to put it in. FFXI is about friendship and unity (the intro says a line or two about this), and according to Square PvP doesn't go along with that theme. So if you ask me there will never be any PvP in FFXI.
The other reason I think this is because right now I'm beta testing Fung Wan Online (which has PvP). And making sure all the classes balanced takes a lot of work and is not just something that can be thrown in anytime they want to. If they put PvP in FFXI right now; people would just go around killing White Mages anytime they wanted and the White Mages couldn't do anything about it.
PS- Your spelling is better than mine. It's just that I spell check almost all of my posts. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-08-2003, 03:27 PM | #48 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2003 Posts: 85 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 337 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 337 Donate | WOW THAT WAS THE MOST USEFUL PEICE OF SHYTE I'VE SEEN, ALL THE INFORMATION I NEEDED RIGHT THERE. I got a 2475 from an ATI Radeon SDR running on a 1.2g AMD with 128 ram. I think its a little better than your giving it credit for.
And yes, I realize I really, really need to upgrade my system. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-09-2003, 04:12 PM | #50 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 70 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 2,464 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,464 Donate | Well I didn't test the video cards, so I really don't know how accurate those numbers are.
PS- Thanks for the positive feed back everyone (it gives me a happy feeling lol), but the reason I put the poll up was so that you won't have to type out that stuff (spaming in the process). im having a problem with my broadband, it comes up with an error when I use the playonline disc to install it, do you strictly have to enter your own details in the info page about your connection or is it all automatic?
do you need to be signed on on your pc and have the ps2 connected to the spare socket labelled T-base or whatever?
thanks a lot,

I'm definately going to get FFXI for the PC.
You can also get an adapter for your PS2 controller to use on your PC at Radio Shack for like $15. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-04-2003, 08:19 PM | #53 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Mar 2003 Posts: 64 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 301 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 301 Donate | What is the combatibility of a 64MB DDR NVIDIA_ GeForce4 MX™ Graphics Card with TV-Out ? I have 2 questions.
1. Will there be roleplaying?
2. How does this server system work with the world passes. I understand the buying concept, but once someone has brought you a world pass do you then have to make a brand new character? So you'll then have 2 seperate characters on 2 different servers?
Thanks for answering my questions and sorry if they were answered elsewhere. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-12-2003, 12:48 AM | #55 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 17 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 141 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 141 Donate | Now that I've become more accustomed to the site I've been able to find my answers. This is a good site, but the navigation is terrible | Quote: | Originally posted by JohnLynch 1. Will there be roleplaying? | Square-Enix won't be organising any roleplaying. However there will be players who do roleplay, and players that don't. | Quote: | Originally posted by JohnLynch 2. once someone has brought you a world pass do you then have to make a brand new character? So you'll then have 2 seperate characters on 2 different servers? | No. Worldpasses can only be used when you make a character and each extra you have costs an extra 75 cents (US).
If you want to go onto another server you need to either by a new character, or delete your current character and use the world pass to go onto the new server. Yes, you can still delete your character, even if you only have one. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-15-2003, 05:15 PM | #56 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 1 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 111 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 111 Donate | thanks for your help, this made alot of things much easier to understand. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-19-2003, 01:01 PM | #57 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 63 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 458 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 458 Donate | | Quote: | Originally posted by JohnLynch

I'm reading and trying to understand all I can about FFXI.. hopefully will get chosen for Beta test too).
Suppose I buy the World Pass (WP) for all my friends.. so when they buy the game, I can give them the World Pass when they create their first character. 1) Now, does that first character they made will start from that "server" based on the World Pass as default OR will it still be randomized by the game (it'll randomize which server your default is).
If it's "default by random" please skip #2. 2) Does the 7days/5usage still apply for the first characters made? If server is defaulted by "WP" then what will happen after the 7days/5usage is up? 3) For the WP, is it when you buy it.. it just gives you that 10 digit code? Or is it an item? Can that 10 digit code be used for more than one person or do I have to buy a WP for each friend that wants to be in the same server as I?
Hopefully these questions will help my friends (or anyone else) figure out how to get together and play. I feel it's strange that without the WP, you have to take a gamble and hope you'll be chosen in the same server as your friends (of course the chances is higher if you have a bunch of friends). | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-19-2003, 02:49 PM | #58 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 8 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 119 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 119 Donate | WoW, i downloaded that FFIXbench file and my first score was 1694, the second was 1688.
I was thinking of buying a new Vcard but that test proved me wrong. the bad thing is that i dont have space , im gonna have to buy a new HDD and some more ram.
These are my pc's specs:
Pentium 4 1.6Ghz
256mb DDR SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 64mb
20gb HDD (halfway used)
DirectX9
DSL connection
SoundMax Integrated Digital audio(i dont know much but i think its crappy, i dont care as long as it makes a sound is good enough for me)
thats about it, you guys should get that bench file to really check out how ffxi handles and feels like. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-19-2003, 06:33 PM | #59 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2003 Posts: 2 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 55 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 55 Donate | 1560 was my score on a Radeon 7600.
