Smile Australian gamer - with a few short questions.

Hey all im Twunga (game name = quaz)
i have a few simple questions that although have been answered in a way, mine are a bit more specific.

i currently live in australia, and im not sure as to whether ff11 will be on the shelves to buy, would anyone have a clue as to whether or not i will have to import?

and seeing that ur currency is basiacclay double ours. will i have to pay by the u.s standard? or by the austrlian standard for yen?

my friend also had downloaded the japanese version of ff11, and i dont want flames to be said here, but is it possible to BUY a playonline id AND ff11 account for this copy???

and finally WHERE CAN I GET MY HANDS ON A LAST MINUTE BETA?

Thanks in advance if u answer these questions helpful suggestions would be much appreciated however i do not wish to be flamed as i am innocently askin a question

p.s I WANT TO JOIN A FUN ARSE LINKSHELL :D

Just asking but how big was the file that he downloaded?...When you install the game you register a new name and account.

Sorry Twunga, you're going to have to buy a retail copy if you want to make a POL account. Your best (and cheapest I think?)bet would be to find a friend that preordered the US version, get him to burn a copy of it for you, install that, then go ahead and buy a retail copy of the JP version so you can snag the POL card. That's assuming converting AU Dollar to JP Yen is cheaper than to US Dollar (I have no idea).

About your linkshell comment. You can always check out Synergy Sanctum. We have just formed it about a month ago, so we don't have a huge number of members, but we are going to jump into FFXI when it goes retail in US. Feel free to stop by and get to know us. If you like the community, join on up.

Twunga there shouldn't be any need for you to import the game all the way from the USA. All the MMORPG that have been released over there is here as well. I'm live in Sydney and have been playing Everquest (payment with credit card in $US) for over 2 years, its nothing special, FFXI will be the same. Add to the fact that PS2 owners will be hosted i think by Telstra Broadband, there's a chance that Telstra(or any other local ISP) can be able to take your payment on behalf of playonline. If we're really lucky we may even get a playonline.com.au but I'm not holding my breath
If the Numbers don't add up however than you be either whipping out the plastic or get dad/mons plastic and pay dad/mom back for your subscription monthly fees.
You should also be able to buy the game from www.gamesmarket.com.au when it gets to our part of the world.

Omg another australian , nice to meet u ausgun.
its a relief to hear u state that there will be a chance of FF11 hitting our shelves because if so, ill save so much more $$

it would be even better if telstra would be able to 'host' my Austrlaian dollars cos then parents will feel more secure about paying.
If telstra was to host my money do they forward it to POL? and if so do they ask for a handling fee?

if they do it it will still be a playonline accounting system but in australia, help setup and linked by telstra(or what ever this new PS2 game network will be called). I am sure if that happens than the bank will charge exhangerate fees already calculated by the bank but remember that is only if we have the numbers to make this worth thier while.
We most likely to end up paying monthly by a mastercard / visa or amex. Charge it to mom or dad and pay it back to him/her when his/she gets there statement from the bank. i say this because i have posted details on australian rpg boards and have got back bugger all response from anyone so it doesn't look good in terms of numbers here.

yay! australians!

hello fellow aussies!
i live in brisbane and will be importing the US version when its out.
Nobody is certain whether FFXI will even come out in PAL territories let alone any time soon . If they do decide to release it here it would most likely be on PC, but it all depends on how well it does in the US and what plans they have for expanding or keeping the game going

i will only buy the PAL version if it comes out on PS2
