I love fishing, it's a great way to pass the time when I'm bored or waiting for a party and I really enjoy a good fight for a good fish. I am a regular fisher on the aht urhgan ferry for Veydal Wrasse (cap35), starting at level 28 and now at level 30.5-ish fishing. I was having great bites and awesome success about two weeks ago with 9/10 success on the wrasse, and I could get a really high-level fish down to 25-30% every time they were on the line. After fishing them for a week I went on vacation for a week, so here it is now two weeks later and I headed out onto the ferry for a day yesterday, and I couldn't believe it... suddenly fishing the Wrasse was incredibly difficult! They danced much more than they had before, their stamina didn't deplete as quickly, and I could only pull in about one in every ten wrasse I got. Most of the rest got to 25-30%. The other fish that I can normally get to 25%-30%, i couldn't even budge to 95%. I verified that these are indeed the two fish I normally see since I was able to get one of those wrasse barely to 10% and pulled it in. I was the same job, with the same gear (fishing tunica set), same rod and bait, same location, same moonphase and ingame weekdays as I always fish, and yet everything was going horribly wrong! What else is there besides: Lure/Bait Rod Fishing Gear + Support Ingame Moonphase Ingame Weekday Ingame Location Is the real-life moon a factor? Two weeks ago it was a full moon and now it's a new moon. That's the only thing I could think of. Does anyone else have any testing they've done to see if the RL moon affects fishing? Or if there's anything that I haven't accounted for? Help! |

Only other things that can affect it would be if you have the Fishing skill+ Moghancement or something to that effect. The moon phase plays a role in how often the fish bite, but other than that, there isn't anything else that I know of that can affect how a fish acts. I don't think the RL moon phase plays any role in anything regarding the game. Sometimes, they just act up. I've had off days where a fish I don't usually have any sort of trouble with will act like it's a Ryugu or something. Unless SE somehow changed something (which I haven't noticed with fishing), I don't know what else it could be. |

Was the weather in-game the same? Some weather effects change the fighting patterns of fish. Fog and rain in particular. Otherwise, sometimes you're just unlucky. The only other factor that affects fishing is the number of other people fishing for those same fish in the zone. Too many people in the same zone depletes the fish population and makes bites rarer. Ah yeah, before I'd been fishing over the course of an entire week for several hours each session, so I'd pretty much accounted for ingame moonphase, weather, day of the week, and all that since it ran the whole gamut. I fished at completely random times with consistently similar results (and nobody ever fishes on the aht urhgan ferry). It's not the bite rate that sucks, its how both of the fish are fighting like crazy mofos.

Do you fish with a keyboard or a controller? If you don't do it right with the controller, it can be harder to reel them in. Anyway, hope they let up on you some.
