Returning to fish
I've been on hiatus and am planning to return mainly to fish due to time constraint. My skill is 26 and I want to get Lu Shang while leveling up. Leveling up isn't as important as getting Lu Shang so my question is what is a good path to take? My time span ranges about an hour to two each session. I'm thinking spending a few session on moat carps only then one in jugner forest(sp) for skill up? is there a better way to get to Lu Shang and level up a little?

Thanks : )

If I were the rain that bind together the earth and the sky, who in all eternity will never mingle, would I be able to bind the hearts of people together?

Re: Returning to fish
Insect Paste in Windurst Waters is the way to go.

The only fish you will catch will either be Moat Carp or Gold Carp, which can skill you up until about 53.

Actually Lu Shang is obtained thru moat carp or forest carp which cap at 11 and 20 respectively. And even if it were gold carp, you would never gain skill ups from catching them at level 11 (assuming you capped on moat carp), or even skill 26 (as the OP stated as his current skill).

The highest level of fishing skill you could acquire catching these 2 fish is obviously only 20. Your fishing skill is 26, and as such, you cannot skill up while working on the quest for the Lu Shang.

PLD75 DRK60 lots of other levels.

/headdesk

His fishing skill is 26.

Gold carp cap at 56.

Moat carp and Gold Carp are the only fish you will catch in Windurst Waters with insect paste.

Thus, a catch will result in one of two things:

1) Moat carp - which will be used to fulfill the quest
2) Gold carp - which will help skill him up to 56 and make some decent gil in return.

Thus, he can skill up while still targeting fish that fulfill the lu shang quest. That, after all is specifically what he asked for.

Most other zones (Zeruhn Mines or San D'Oria etc) will filter in Tricolored Carp (which cap at 27) or other useless fish. There are specific places to catch Moat Carp only (with Insect Paste) like Knightwell and Dragon's Aery. There is also a pond in Yuhtunga Jungle that will net you only Forest Carp or Moat Carp. None of those will help him level up past 26 though.

Except he cannot gain skill ups on a fish 30 levels above his current skill.

Re: Returning to fish
It's possible to skill off them, it just won't be as fast as it would be otherwise. I remember skilling up as early as 30 and have taken fishing to 35 so far just going after carp in windurst.
