Re: Robber Rig
Technically rogue and robber rigs can get a bite from any fish, but the bite rate with them is terrible. They're only really good for fishing items like rusties and coral fragments or bottom-lying shellfish like shall shells. The idea is you drag the bottom with the rig until the hooks latch onto something. I think robber gets more bites from actual fish than rogue, but it's still pretty bad.

Re: Robber Rig
While that is a viable bait for moat carp, your better option is fishing at the Knightswell Lake (Pond?) in West Ronfar.
((EDIT: well...not VIABLE, but as Taskmage points out it CAN get bite rates >.> ))

Even at lvs 1-7 using little worms >>halcyon rod (I'd highly suggest it if you've got the cash, otherwise other rods listed here http://www.finalfishing.com/Fish.aspx?fid=1 may be better/more affordable for you) I got a decent amount of carp and had the crayfish for lvling a synth or selling. ((EDIT: also toss back catches that are !!!, they're either monsters or arrowwood logs, which the logs can snap a hal. rod))

After 7 either buying or synthing Insect Balls will isolate moat carp for you at this location at least. Can be purchased at the guild in Windy, or synthed w/ a cooking level 29 ((earth crystal // 1 little worm + 1 distilled water + millioncorn = 12 insect ball))

Re: Robber Rig
Robber Rig will catch almost no moat carp. It "can" catch them, it just doesn't do so very often. The only use for Robber Rig is that it is VERY good at catching shellfish: Shall Shell, Vongola Clam, Bibiki Urchin.

Other than those, there's no point to using this lure, IMO.

Best bet as mentioned would be Knightswell in West Ronfaure with Insect Paste and a decent medium sized rod like Carbon Fiber or Halcyon.

Re: Robber Rig
If it is the Lu Shang's you're after, then you can still skill fishing while working on carp. Both moat carp and forest carp count for this now to my understanding.

An excellent forums site that has two skilling guides (one the carp route, the other a speedier route) is as follows. It has lots of useful info on location, rods, bait, and the like.
http://titanictus.com/viewtopic.php?t=752

The section of this guide you want to read through is III. a.0-50 While Catching Moats for the Lu Shang's Quest the Entire Time.

Re: Robber Rig
I don't know of any glitch, but if you've done a whole lot of fishing in the last 24 hours you may be at your fatigue limit. The maximum number of fish you can catch in a day is estimated to be around 200, though some people speculate that the weight and skill level of the fish also come into play. If that discussion ever reached a definitive conclusion I didn't see it. After you hit fatigue, your recast time will start to get longer and your bite rate will start to get lower, eventually dropping to nothing.

Re: Robber Rig
I recall the suggestion from other fishers being that you need to be 50+ fishing before Robber Rig will effectively snag you moat carps. I've seen many posts by high level fishers that fishing skill makes an impact on bite rate.

Re: Robber Rig
Like suggested above...Robber Rig is good for items and shellfish. I just got to lvl 92 fishing and tested the Rober rig in some Moat carp catchable areas...they are catchable but like stated above...bite rate is very....VERY low. LuShang+sinking minnow=Gold Lobster FTW!! >.>

P.S.

2k guild point away till i get my Serpent Rumors!!! I'll have my Ebisu soon!!! i'll post pics when i get it.
