Been a while since posting in fishing . So I just dinged 22, fishing Nebs on the ferry lately, but I'm at cooking 87.something-ish and I was looking at HQ tier recipes and came across ye ole Fishmitkabobs/Fishchief... Can I actually fish Shall Shells at this level? pretty much determines if the recipe will turn a reasonable profit. If not I'll just keep selling the nebs.
Thanks again,

You probably could fish shall shells. They're higher level but have a really easy pattern. I can't say that the money would be better than sticking with nebs, HQs or not, but maybe you'll get better skillups. Just watch out for subligar. It sucks to lose your rig to line snaps. - | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-12-2006, 11:21 AM | #4 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 29,289 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 29,289 Donate | Re: A further question, Shall Shells Yea. Cancel anything that drains stamina fast and you'll be ok I think. Shall shell has noticably more stamina. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

The reason you want 40+ fishing is strictly because it will improve your chances of a skillup. Shall Shell is level 52, and so will give better skillups if you're within shouting distance of its cap. Lu Shang's Fishing Rod is necessary in all zones except for Buburimu Peninsula, since all other zones with Shall Shells have Arrowwood Logs and other items that can break your rod.
You could simply avoid the logs (probably will anyway since it is a heavy bite with the "!!!" message), but other rods will either frequently give a "This fish is too small to catch with your rod" message, or can line snap or even break on the items in the waters.
I'd just stick with the nebimonites for now - they're skill cap 27, so at least get up to that level before going after Shall Shells. If you desperately need some quantities, you can still get some even at 22 - Shall Shell has a very passive fighting profile, so it's pretty easy to reel in - I just don't think it's an efficient use of your time yet.

Lu is always better of course, and there's still a slight risk of rod breaks with halcyon, but I pulled up many many stacks of shells before I found out it was possible to get breaks there.
You probably should stick with nebs at least until you cap on them, though. When you find money and skillups in the same basket, milk it for all it's worth. - | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
