Could just mean they are possibly releasing it on the PC first, which is what happened state side with FFXI iirc. Not sure that makes a whole lot of sense, since the Japanese player base for FFXI is still majority PS2 I believe, although with PS3 numbers being where they are I wouldn't be surprised if they just released it for the PC first then did a separate beta for PS3 related issues.

And companies don't have to be fair. That's like complaining about not getting into a closed beta.

it's still a worldwide release but maybe in the next phase of the beta, it will be tested on PS3 also, since they have to test it on PS3 eventually.

SE already siad the game would be released world wide, for both PC and PS3 at the same time.

oh you mean it was released like it was intended to?

JP PS2 >> JP PC >> NA PC >> NA PS2 >> NA/JP 360

FFXI was released like planned, nothing was changed. SE wants to release FFXIV world wide and on both systems at once. The beta will start on PC and work in the PS3 base then wrap up the Beta, and release the game Worldwide simultaneously on both systems.

SE stated that FFXIV is being developed on PC first in one of the interviews, and the PS3 version is a port. I mean that would explain why the beta is PC right now. As for the future, who knows.

Coulda swore it was intended for PS2 in NA then PC got the port.. Hm.. Maybe I am wrong. But that's what I remember reading in gamepro years ago.

PC is a port version of the PS2 version, but it was released in this order.

JP PS2 >> JP PC >> NA PC >> NA PS2 >> NA/JP 360

Its why FFXI runs so crappy even "god" PCs, because it was ported so badly

but when FFXI was beta tested in NA, it was tested on both PS2 and PC at the same time.

Still don't see why they'd beta test a game on one system and not another Bal? Just cause PC users say console users will dick around doesn't make it true. There's tons of PC users that will do just the same.

So true..... having this same problem testing a game called Cloud Nine, its one of those cute anime-ish games, but its fun... so far, and I found a few bugs already. But a good amount of the people on their forums, think that the Closed Beta is just for play, and got mad because they could not play (time zone issues) since the game was only on for so long, and for 3 days a week.

Beta testing has lost its meaning. Back in the day we felt a part of something, like we were helping to make the game good. It was funny how we would be so competitive to find the bugs first. lol Leveling was like an afterthought, it was about finding bugs first and if we needed a level to do that then ok. Now its all about leveling and playing the game. I've seen people piss and moan about a bug in game. I'd ask "Did you go to the forums and report it?" and they'd act like that wasn't their job.
