ok im an xbox player and really dig ffxi... only been play a month now

i have been trying to keep up with the FFXIV but at work i cant read much

can anyone tell me the status of FFXIV and xbox ??

I doubt they release it on xbox 360. From what I hear, microsoft is making it difficult to cross platform online games and XI was lucky because they tried it early enough in the system's release. I know Champions Online among others were developing for cross platform between pc and xbox360 but that microsoft has been stubborn with these other games. I guess its possible, it would keep the 360 competitive w/ ps3 on the se ff market...but who really knows.

yeah i was starting to fear that... Microsoft makes every thing difficult ...

there are a few MMO games i have read about that will play on xbox (like the secret world) that look good but i really like FF series
i dont like playing on a PC and would hate to have to get a PS3 just fro one game

yeap Microsoft is who ruined Phantasy Star Universes' chance at being good, by making the PC and PS2 separate from the 360

I kind of understand why MS has this policy of theirs, but haveing FFXI on the 360 shows that its not bad to allow it, and they need to get with the program, or get left in the dust.

i did see something about Phantasy Star Universes' being another mmo on xbox but then didnt hear anything eles about it

did they try to have only 360 players on a server ... that is weak...
FFXI was big on Xbox i have myself and 4 other players on xbox playing FFXI we all played the demo and i just got us all back in about a month ago

i know im a late starter but i thought there would be more expantions or something ... then i hear XIV is comming ...
it sux to be left out cause MS are being babys about multi playfor gaming

i mean fro reall im thinking of a PS3 just to play this it would suck to have to do that but i might and thet take me away from xbox to play on the competitions harware

yeah because of Microsoft, the PC and PS2 people are seperate from the 360 people, and on top of that the Japanese and US players are also separated on the PC/PS2 side, so it made that player base very small.

Not sure where you heard that from though, but PSU is not an MMORPG, its an MORPG or Dungeon crawler, can be called both really.

o i c ... it was a morpg but even still MS messed it up lol lol... i like the idea of MMOs & lots of different players but you cant have that on one console...

i can see it with PC like WOW but xbox has less then all the PCs and half of Xbox palyers may not be into a MMO type of game
multi platform is the way to go and keep it going...

Its not coming to 360 at this moment because MS wants FFXIV on Xbox Live Gold since FFXIV is 'next gen" and SE wants the same deal they had before with FFXI. I have to see it from SE's perspective, too, they probably don't want people paying $299 a month plus Live fees just to play FFXIV

yeah i can see that too... but live is only 50$ for the year and anyXBOX player who is playing online mostlikey pays that already for all the other games theyll play online...

i for one would not mind paying 12.99 + 50$ for live
i pay that now and FFXI can be played on the free silver... but i dont just play ffxi

i dont see a big deal with having to use live gold... but i know other will have issues with it...
i just hope they work things out... i hear good things about the new game and would love to play

The original point of having Xbox Live Gold cost anything was to offset the costs of running online games. MS ran and maintained a lot of the services and servers needed so individual publishers did not.

SE makes no use of those services, they have to run their own infrastructure because they aren't only selling to Xbox players so the Live fee means nothing to them. It is in their best interests therefore to not require a Gold connection. They don't use it, they don't need it so they shouldn't have to force their customers to pay MS for it.

well i can see that.. i just dont think its that big... i asked in my linkshell lastnight of any of the xbox players who had live... i think maybe only one didnt and then was cause he said he didnt have the cash to set it up at the moment but would have it again shortly... i guess every one have a valid point... i just hate that i may get left out over something im already paying for anyways right now... i have live gold and i pay SE for FFXI

i still blaime MS they should be easyer to workwith ...

Its a peer-to-peer Online RPG and a bad one at that.

(1) Single player mode blows, you can't level your online avatar in it. You have to be Ethan
(2) Beast race is ugly no matter how hard you try to make it otherwise.
(3) Male character models, in general, are just as bad. 90% of the design effort went into the females, sans CAST and Beast. Casts can all look cool, but Beast can't.
(4) Monthly fee for no real sever maintenance or content updates.
(5) Mindblowingly bad story and presentation. Shenmue bad localization.
(6) Weapons interface sucked.

PS Portable addressed all of these issues save for the following:

(1) Beast is still an ugly, terrible race
(2) Story is still bad.

Otherwise its a pretty good game, I've been playing it a bit. I feel like I'm almost playing a real PSO game pre-monthly fees. What a great time that was, duping and hackers aside.

PS Zero for DS actually seems like an upgrade, though.

(1) No Beasts
(2) Anime 2D Stills > 2D stills of posed 3D models.
(3) Online play (How can Nintendo get it right, but Sony can't?)
(4) New Classes and weapons
(5) No Beasts
