Otherwise its a pretty good game, I've been playing it a bit. I feel like I'm almost playing a real PSO game pre-monthly fees. What a great time that was, duping and hackers aside.

PS Zero for DS actually seems like an upgrade, though.

(1) No Beasts
(2) Anime 2D Stills > 2D stills of posed 3D models.
(3) Online play (How can Nintendo get it right, but Sony can't?)
(4) New Classes and weapons
(5) No Beasts

Tanaka has said in an interview they are planning a 360 release and will begin work on a port if and when M$ changes their XBL policy to accommodate the game. As it stands, you would have to pay for both XBL and FFXIV, which SE doesn't want.

thats what i wanted to hear... i would love to see it played free on XBL but being some one who already pays anyway i dont care about the fee it auto debited once a year and i dont even see that anymore

i really like playing FF and want to play 14 i have 4 other friends on XBL that will also play( i just got them back into ffxi)

so do u know if it is set to launch or dose MS have to change the policy1st

1) Story mode indeed sucked and Ethan was indeed a horrible character. But there was an extra, offline mode where you could play as your own character.
2) All the races looked pretty much exactly the same except for their skin color and ears. Except for Casts, they were the only real unique race.

4) This was the biggest killer of the game for me. Updates were few and far between and there was no one regulating the game. Duping, hacking and cheating were so damn rampant the inflation in that game was absolutely absurd.
5) I don't know anything about Shenmue, but the online story...what little there actually was...indeed was horrible.
6) Actually, I liked the weapon system in the game. The ability to switch on the fly was real nice, especially for areas filled with enemies of varying types and elemental resistance. One of my favorite aspects of that game was finding the right combination of weapon, elemental bonus and PA attack to counter each different mob type. And being a Fortefighter let me use all sorts of nasty toys, fun little toys to do so.

To me, the split between Xbox, NA PC/PS3 and JP PC/PS3 had nothing to do with that game's failure, it was all Sega and their lack of support, updates and story telling. The game was nothing more then a repetitive grindfest where you would run through the same exact missions over and over again every 5-10 levels.

I dont remember myself, but I did read/hear it as well, hell watch the video interviews all over again if you really want to find it.... I know I dont have the time to search for it -.-

with FFXI, MS let it slide and allowed FFXI to run off a silver account, PSU got this treatment as well. Now with FFXIV, MS wants to make it require Gold account access, withc would require people to pay MS for gold, and SE for FFXIV. There are also a few other "laws" that all Live games follow, that FFXIV would break.

Live games have to have separate servers for all regions (FFXI broke this)
Live games have to use Xbox software (FFXI broke this by using POL)

.....these are the only two I can remember at the current time, I have to leave very soon for a work call, no time to think much more then I have ;p

"Final Fantasy XIV has only been officially announced for the PlayStation 3 and PC, but don't rule out an Xbox 360 version. Square Enix isn't. After all, Final Fantasy XI found its way to the Xbox.

Hiromuchi Tanaka, producer on FF XIV says that the roadblock in bringing the massively multiplayer game to Xbox Live is due to Microsoft's "network policy." Since the PlayStation 3 and Windows PC versions allow for cross communication and cross platform play, it sounds like that feature is at issue.

But Tanaka says that Square Enix is trying to reach an agreement with Microsoft to allow Xbox 360 players to enjoy the game, saying the developer is still "considering" the platform.

For now, however, you're going to need either a "high spec" PC or a PS3 to get your fix. What nobody's getting on any platform, however, is built-in voice communication. Square's keeping Final Fantasy XIV strictly text chat only—Sage Sundi, global online producer, suggested that Skype and Ventrilo are still your best bets.

The game will ship in 2010 and support Japanese, English, French and German."

If someone is going to post something and claim it as fact, it's really up to them to also post it's source if it comes under debate. I shouldn't have to go rummaging through a dozen or so videos just to prove someone wrong.

1) I never said you had to do it because you're not the person who made the initial claims nor did I tell you specifically to provide that information. You were the one who told me to go look it up, not the other way around. If you are the one to make the claim then you should be the one to back it up, simple as that. It's basic etiquette to provide sources for your information. My time is just as valuable is yours, and I don't like wasting what little time I have much like you don't like wasting yours.

2) I knew full well why FFXIV wasn't being released on the 360 at this time nor did I ever question it. I did question the claim that a released was in fact planned, which it's not. They are interested in making one, but at this time no plans and no work have even been started. I've read that statement Pwnagraphic was kind enough to post for me before as well. And it was the same information that I recalled, which is that there are currently no plans for the game to be released on the 360 any time soon. Since MS doesn't want to budge on their XBL policies, SE will not release the game on their system. In the most likely event, FFXIV will have to be a phenomenal success to get MS to change their minds, which means we might not see a 360 for years after it's release.

There is another interview where a dev stated that a 360 version was ready for development. I can't find that one though.. it took me an hour to remember where I saw that one lol.

that is sooo stupid IMO they should just let every one play the game
paying for live should not even be an issue... most XBOX players already pay the 50$ for the year ( and its worth it )

Kailea may be right with the game breaking MS rules but i still feel that is bad... thank every one for your info... no need to argue time will tell
ill just wait to see what new info come out getting closer to the release
hopefully ill be able to play with out buying a PS3
