I still have a problem with a bunny literally "kicking" your ass at high levels. The "kicking" reaches a point where it's impossible to do so much damage if you consider basic physics. Yeah, it's simpler to have the mechanics work the same way with different numbers, but "realistically", a "killer rabbit" would at least go biting a limb off* or poisoning you with its venomous drool or something like that. Monty Python had their rabbit go for the jugular. (critical hit!) So what do we get as the first demos of FFXIV? A "kill N dodos and M puks" quest. Which is what people whine about WoW for having. Hooray for roll playing. * The lack of limb loss in most RPGs is rather like the dentless crashes in most driving games, with the main difference being that the RPG models aren't licensed from car companies who don't want them dented in the games - with RPGs, it just makes the game engine and mechanics a lot harder to program, especially if you stick with the old "hit points" cliche that dates back to the dawn of Dungeons and Dragons. The only commercial MMO that I know of with limb loss is a text game. (Gemstone III/IV) Also, it has empathic healing (see the Star Trek episode as an example) where the Healer takes the body damage, then heals him/her self. That would look pretty cool with 3D rendering. You can get skill points in bandage-healing if you're not a big-H Healer, but that leaves behind scars which gimp you until you drink the appropriate potions (sold by an NPC for a lot less than they should be) or get a Healer to take them off you. And yes, the Healer gets XP for that.

Not the best argument ever. "Your own house?! Go play The Sims."

I don't mind crabs and rabbits in higher level zones if they're significantly weaker. Why do the Crabs in mamook have to be level 78? Why not 48? Or 10? People will claim they had to be stronger to survive in that area but let's face it. In real life, I can kill a possum with my bare hands (well, mostly with my feet). And yet, they continue to thrive in big, semi-rural city sprawls covered in humans with GUNS. As Feba said: it's not bad if they justify it. But those Crabs weren't even Blue Magic guinea pigs are some shit. So both realism and fantasy have failed to explain why they need to be worthy of providing me chain #82. And yes, I totally agree that leveling in FFXI draws disturbing parallels to Colonial America's buffalo population. If I'm gonna spend my days proving that I'm a worthy warrior, I should be proving it on the battlefield. Not shooting fish in a barrel.

I agree 110% with your last statement. So let's make a petition so SE gives me 20k+ XP/AN for proving my worth soloing NMs on campaign. d(^^d)

Maybe we should be allowed to hunt things to extinction in FFXIV. That way if anything shows up where it shouldn't be(Rabbits and crabs) We can just kill them all off much like we do to real animals. Ah, the power of being human.

If they no longer want us to hunker down and endlessly pull mobs then they no longer have to make viable camps and can mix up the levels of the mobs a bit more.
