So true, when Black Panther said one of them looked like Liam Neeson I had to do a double take. They look like they'd speak with a refined accent with wisdom rather than a warrior/brutish voice like the galka from FFXI.

No, but if you had imagination they did. I mean think about it like this, The Elvaans were basically nobles in a castle so you'd think them to be more refined but kinda snobbish in the same way. Mithra NPCs had a southern feel to them. Humes had a brave feel or a ambiance around them. Galka were kinda outcasts and they had a more brutish feel to them. Tarutaru were kinda kiddy but some of them had a -aru stuttering disorder.I guess it is all in the way you perceive the races. (No disrespect to any of the races, that was just the feel I got from them through the game. It has been a long time since I've played through the original story so my answer may be unrealistic compared to the real thing, especially since I haven't played through all of the storylines.)

Mithra actually don't seem to have fun on their skin, and this new race of cat girls most definitely does not. Infact this new race actually has very fair, pale skin and any fur they do have stands out greatly as it's all a single color. On top of that, many, many, many (aka most) great cats live in very warm, hot climates. Especially jungle cats like panthers, tigers and jaguars. Mithra were the closest thing to "savages" in FFXI, they were a damn near animallistic race far more so then any other playable class. As such, hailing from a wild jungle, like many other species of great cat predators, makes plenty of sense.

Galka, for the most part, were anything but brutish in FFXI. Short tempered and quick to violence yes, as that was the curse of their people. But they were very wise and very well spoken, filled with insight and depth. Galka to me have always been a wise, deeply spiritual race, as due to the way they're born, they've accumulated lifetimes of experience, moreso then any other race. It was the Mithra who spoke in a more brutish fashion imo as they were, for lack of a better term, a savage jungle folk who never had much use for being well mannered or spiritual.

I have enough of an ego to give ALL of the characters my nice voice though. The game just wouldn't be the same without that.

Most of our translated stuff is done with stereotypical American accents that fall into either the brash, opinionated New Yorker or Californian surfer dude camps. It's sad that the media believe they're the only American accents we can identify with. Over there I'm sure we Brits tend to fall into either the eloquent villian or absent-minded, yet endearing professor type though.

When the massive loads of info start crashing down, and the actual game nears coming out there will be a bunch of people flocking here to use the board. Eventually people will start asking for FFXIV to have its own forum website since there will be too many questions/comments and it'll be too much of a hassle to have up two boards. People flock to this forum now lol. I mean regardless if there's a board for it or not, there's still inevitably going to be a large number of FFXIV topics. FFXIV having it's own topic would still be a small percentage of the website cause people still come here JUST for FFXI. We can't make a whole new forum site till we know what's going on in the game. Where there be crystals? Rank missions? Are the countries fighting for territory? See we don't have THAT much info to make a whole new forum but we have enough info to make FFXIV it's own board.

Its far too late for FFXI to try to adopt such a system and it would be met with tons of resistance, SE's trying to find way to remove gear from the system as best they can, but FFXIV will be doing it the right way from day one. Plus it makes sense given weapons are central to the job system itself and gives greater purpose to the blacksmithing profession and any other craft that may affect weapons and armor.

With this being done, it will prevent the market place from being flooded with gear, I do hope that there will be an Auction House again. I can't live with out it. But, with this type of system in place, gear will have to be easily acesseable as well. Yea, I don't mind carrying around 2-3 swords at all times, as long as my inv can handle it, and incase one breaks as I am fooling around, or trying to get stuff done, but if all three of them break, how will I get more if they are not easily accessable, and teh same for money.

They should make getting money easier (But not too easy), so that people can replace their gear as it breaks with little time needed to farm so that they don't have to farm for hours on end just to get an item that might break in 3 hours of constant fighting (No info on the durability of items, so Its just a rough guess since that most parties last for 3 hours in FFXI.).

It will be neat to see how staves, and mage items will be done. The more you cast using a staff or something, the less durable it becomes? That is, if mages don't get a chance to melee this time around like FFXI.

Yesterday we brought you information that will most likely be released this week in Weekly Famitsu magazine. Today, we have a few leaked pictures from Dengeki PlayStation. Thanks to the large size of the pictures, you can see the little details used to tell the magazines apart. For example, the font used for page numbering or the design of the box that contains console and release date information.
First up, the first two pages of the article in Dengeki PlayStation magazine:

1) Cities and Landscapes

We can see three of the cities that will appear in the new game. At the top is the sea side city of Rimusa Rominsa. In the middle we can see the desert city of Urudaha. The bottom picture of the first page is of Guridania, a city tucked away in the forest. Official English spellings for these places are not yet released. However, there is a lot of speculation that the official site for Final Fantasy XIV will be updated this weekend as well. If that is the case, perhaps we will get official spellings soon.

The next page shows some of the landscape. Additional pictures of the landscape were printed on other pages. Of particular interest is the picture including a Roegadyn, Hyuran, and Elezen. Could this be an actual in-game screenshot? They appear to be at an outpost of some kind. It reminds me a lot of the outpost in FFXI’s Eastern Altepa Desert. Next to them is a glowing stone. This might be Etelyte mentioned on different Japanese pages. The stones are supposed to assist you with moving around the world of FFXIV. This brings up another interesting rumor. FFXIV might not have connecting zones that flow into one another like we have with FFXI.

2) The Guild Reeve System

Another picture that started floating around yesterday was of the Guild Reeve system. Once again, the official English name isn’t known at this time. Another possible translation given by the people at IGN was Guild Leave. This is a quest building system. You can create your own unique quest by combining different types of reeves or just use them on their own. The picture below gives one example of some reeves you can combine.

The first card contains a picture of Saint Danafen, the dragon killer. This type of card would require you to gather up your courage and overcome many difficulties while eliminating fearsome monsters. The card in the middle is of Saint Totoru the Rat-Hunter. You will receive gratitude from people by helping them out with different tasks like getting rid of pests. Saint Murugin appears in the last card, forging a sword. This card has you focusing on polishing your skills in order to help out other people. Other Miqo’te and Hyuran saints can be seen on other cards. One of the pictures from Weekly Famitsu talked about what customization details might be available for players to play around with. Dengeki PlayStation looks into this issue as well by comparing the pictures of a Lalafell male and female. They believe that players will be able to choose eye color as well. To me it seems like the eyebrows are also slightly different but that could just be because they are different faces. In the future we can probably expect to see more pictures of customizations made on the same face model as Square Enix makes their appeal to possible service subscribers. The lower portion of the picture talks about something we have known since the trailer. Many of the face types from FFXI have made an appearance in pictures of FFXIV. Chances are high that you will be able to remake your FFXI for the most part if that is your desire.
