I guess that's good.. One wouldn't have to worry about being gimp in whatever skills they want to use.
Race had nothing to do with how good you could be as a mage or melee in FFIX

the only major factor in races, where Taru and Galka, and their difference in MP, but even then I have seen many Galka out preform some Taru mages.

BS. As an Elvaan I naturally have 12 more STR over a tarutaru and nearly 200 more HP. That gives me a pretty huge edge for DPS, especially RNG and SAM. And Galka are untouchable as DRK because of the extra HP for souleater.

To say race doesn't matter is a farce because it does. Not as much as skill or gear, but it still factors in. A tarutaru SAM can never be as powerful as an Elvaan or Galka, and likewise those 2 will never match a Taru BLM for INT and MP. The latter example is especially painful, as capping INT against mobs before adding MAB is a pretty big deal that always gets me when I'm on BLM and I hate it ><

Request for future similar threads: date the title, please. I keep hoping there's actually new information in here, but there isn't. /wrists

Looooooooooool. Please die.

If the difference between the top and bottom races is 3 DMG, that's not a huge edge. Try again.

It is a (very, very small) factor, but nah.

Race only really matters in very specific situations* but for the other 99% of the activities in the game the differences (even with the exact same gear and merits) are pretty difficult to spot, parser or not.

And even then it would be completely random because in the end the factors that make most of the performance difference are playing skill and equip macros. To see the difference (if any) you'd require players to fight the exact same way with exactly the same gear and perform the exact same actions with the same equip macros, which just does not happen in normal play.

So in the end you'd end up with a bunch of parsed data that would say a race has a higher DPS than another in completely unrealistic conditions. Which would only further the ignorance and prejudice of players because they simply wouldn't understand the context in which that data was obtained.

Gotta love the irony of knowledge actually promoting ignorance.

That is why I always take all the Vana-math as a reference at best. Because even if the formulas are true the sheer randomness of being out there is enough to usually send the "logical and math proven" gear sets and actions out the window.

*Like a Taru PLD tanking a HNM with a 1k+ dmg attack or a Galka mage trying to make full use of Chainspell. Both cases which are more likely to be a problem due to a lack of the right gear/macros rather than base stats.

Re: New FFXIV Info!

Only place Race has ever really mattered is HP. Paladin and Dark Knight.

Even then, for for all party and mission scenarios, all races work just fine. Even some endgame ones, its just rather tricky and time-consuming to catch your Tarutaru's HP up in gear to other races to tank or do the KC/Blood Weapon exploit.

I've beaten the snot out of just about every Elvaan RNG I've ever met in terms of Slugwinder damage. That's because of gear and knowing how to use it, a skill most players these days don't seem to have. I've beaten out people with better gear because they don't use it effectively or use food at all.
