^^This

The guides are helpful to read up on how something should and could go, and strategies that other people have usedc can be used to your advantage. Just because I've read that I can do Under Observation with a RDM, and 2xBLU doesn't mean that it'll work every time. Ran the same fight 10 times and won 7/10 times. Even though we had 2 different Red Mages, one had a better time kiting that the other who had never kited before. The one that had kited before got us killed once (1/6) where the one who hadn't got us killed twice (2/4). It is just like everything else in the game, there are too many factors to be able to determine a certain specific outcome every single time.

Seriously, wtf is your problem? So they made the game easier as far as soloing is concerned. In case you havent noticed, theres hardly people looking to form a PT nowadays! So guess what your option is? Either A) You solo (thanks to FoV its a little easier and faster) B) You make a level sync party and have some fun, or C) Actually get lucky and get a PT that level syncs to YOU.

I got lucky and my first 4 of 5 75's made it there the old fashioned way (except for some soloing here and there as /dnc) but my poor BLU, my favorite job has had to endure countless hours of soloing for exp (with a few deaths here and there mind you) but am I complaining? FUCK NO! I like the fact that while im LFP, I can solo some exp in FoV, or do some campaign while I'm at it. They made this game more accessible to those people who dont/cant spend their entire day LFP hoping to gain a level or two because why??? You guessed it, PEOPLE HAVE LIVES OUTSIDE THIS GAME.

/End rant *goes to find a hammer*

I wish he were a troll, that would mean he's actually smarter than this.

But most trolls don't create accounts 6 years in advance, actively use them for 2 years and then wait the other 4 before finally attempting to troll.

Re: FFXIV, I hope it's not like what this has become.

The point he's making about looking things up I think are the nimrods that read stuff online and then act like they personally know its the truth though they've never experienced it. I'm sure some of you have ran into this type of person that is spouting stuff off that they read online (which is sometimes just another persons opinion) and then defend that stance to the teeth even though they are inexperienced in whatever they are defending. It's annoying.

I can understand what the OP is saying but I don't necessarily agree with it. I've started playing Nov of 2002 and that "new car smell" is long gone from FFXI. It happens to all MMO's. You start when the game is new and do things that you'll remember fondly and learn as you go. Then as things get discovered others put their experiences online and then people that come after them have it easier. Some of the games pioneers feel that the people that come later will have it easier and haven't really accomplished what they did or had it as hard as they did so their time spent isn't as valuable. They are called elitists.

Then top it off with game dynamics getting tweaked and the "I did it before they changed it" attitude runs rampant. Developers tweak for a very simple reason....to keep the game going as long as possible because its more $$ in their pockets then. It's all a part of a MMO's lifeline and will never change.

Re: FFXIV, I hope it's not like what this has become.

Does anyone remember when they lowered the overall xp post 50 to get to 75? It ended up only being a 40k xp change (about one level) and there were a lot of people saying that people that hit 75 before the change would know their jobs so much better than people who hit 75 after the change.
The original post reminds me a lot of that thread.

Seconded!

I remember the days though when you couldn't get a party because the dunes had way to many people trying to get a party. Then it went straight to, not enough healers seeking, then it went to, everyone is alot higher level, and you wont get exp.

Then Level sync came... For two weeks it was the best tool ever!

So many parties in the dunes, then it slowly died out, then dunes just became barren again, except for Ls's, and friends trying to help others level...

Yeah, people settled on Qufim PTs right by the tower with a PL,r East Ronfaure [s] PTs with a COR and PL, or SMN burn PT's. I swear, people sacrifice fun for efficiency and laziness now, thats my only complaint. Rapidly lvl up now, skill up later seems to be some of the mentality running rampant too.

Yea, the game fell to "Gain 75 ASAP then go skill up, then we can do end game!"

I fell into that for a little bit, but then it got boring when I was 75 on my sam, and I quit the game for a while as how bored I actually got bored with the game. I came back, as I couldn't really leave my friends, and I am just taking it slow, and finding parties that I will have fun in. If I don't have fun, I will actually leave. Especially if all they care about is hitting 75 ASAP

yeah then they cry later because they have the skill levels of a lv50 at level 65 ;p

when I was leveling PLD, I would not sync to anything but my level or 1-2 below mine, because as PLD I need to keep my shield and sword skill up as much as possible

Oh how I loathe some of those new tanks nowadays >.< idiots dont skill up their shield, yet their mouths drop when they see my shield proc rate (w/o Reprisal) and then wonder why theirs doesnt proc as much. Sword aint THAT important, but your shield will save your life more often than not.

no matter my job, I consider every skill important ;p

but yeah, I have seen some bad tanks, or even general melee, who level sync way to much.

I used DNC to cap sword (atleast for DNC) at 75 and have 8 merits in it, so for PLD all I have to really worry about is Shield, atleast for now
