but isnt it risky validating a credit card number for Verify by Visa online? someone might steal it, even with anti-virus protection. maybe the whole purpose of VbV is to steal credit card numbers and charge people extra or things they didn't purchase when they aren't noticing. and they would keep their targets small so people don't think it was by the same company.

Like it has been said so many times before VbV and the such only protects you from people physically copying your card's info and making purchases with it (at participating sites that is), but it offers zero protection against online identity theft.

So it's pretty much the most useless security feature SE could've implemented for their online services. simply because the last thing someone is going to purchase with a stolen card's info is a subscription to an online game like XI.

Maybe if XI was an RMT game like Second Life, but that still doesn't justify SE's decision of implementing such an useless "security" feature on XI except for it being a politics motivated move.

If they take away the extra dollar per character and allow the use of gamecards, they wont have to worry about peoples credit card information getting stolen.
