I'd change fenrir's body, it just looks a bit off, but other than that it's a huge improvement.

I haven't posted anything in awhile since I started back at uni but I have some free time now! Thought I'd show you guys what I'd been working on: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The lineart isn't finished, I'm fixing it as I colour X3 For instance, I resized the hands! The fingers and such were waaaaay too big. Bit of a rant: My confidence has taken a battering a bit. Another artist on DA accused me of stealing their style. Their evidence was: I use the pen tool to outline (or did before I got my tablet, not so often now), I use the same pallet as them (the default photoshop one) and in one picture the eyes were similar(the lighting of the eyes). It's a very popular artist, with 1k+ watchers (including me!) They posted a journal saying how I'd copied them (when DA people do this it normally starts a witch hunt where all their watchers take it upon themselves to flame the accused person), being a watcher I saw her upload it realised it was my work and sorted it out asap. I proved my innocence and she took the journal down and luckily it wasn't up long enough to get a reaction. She didn't back down fully though, resorting to saying that I had "unconciously copied her". The whole thing was ridiculous! But anyway, it's knocked me a bit, I'm now worried that if I upload something someone's going to accuse me of copying @_@

Hell he is probably jelouse because your getting better then him ;p oh an by the way.... Axe to the groin?....... ow -.-

I must say this seems to be a slight step backwards. His head is too small, or his cap is too big. His jaw is weird all over the place. His face is really awkward. What would I recommend... well, for starters you need to use less lines and start using thicker strokes and shadowing here and there like you did on the previous drawing. It makes everything look too sharp and unnatural, his jaw is just so pointy it might be a good piercing weapon against the orc. I do realize you're still working on it but I thought I'd just comment on the current work. Also SHAME on that DA person... Can you show me your page? I have a DA account and would like to +watch :D

Noted all that, I'll try and fix it :p fallenintoshadows on deviantART EDIT: OK, how's the chin now? It still doesn't look right to me, is it the jaw that's weird? ![]() Does this jaw line look better?

Yes the lower picture of the jawline looks better, imo. Fallen, as long as YOU know that you didn't copy anyones work, thats all that matters dear. People will always criticize things they are jealous of. Think about this for a minute. You are still growing and expanding your style and perfecting your technique. Maybe this other person has capped their skills and they see that you have the ability to surpass them. I've seen the difference in your earlier work (yes I've been watching ) and what you are doing now. You are improving greatly and this can create jealousy in other artists. Some artists stall or get "comfortable" with where they are at and when they see someone improving, especially someone that is a fan of theirs, they can become bitter. How many artists use PS and use the same damn colors and tools and other options as this person does? A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT! Do they go through every single persons art and make blogs about them copying? How about a person that does the same as this person but their art pre-dates them? OOOOH That means that the one that criticized you copied the person that did it before them!! Honestly, its just jealousy....you should be proud someone is jealous of your art and not worrying about it. Keep the peace with the artist but let that little inner self go "HA HA You're jealous b***h!!"

1- Any artist who seriously complains about their "style" being "copied" is a dumbass. That is how art works. Great artists steal, etc. Art has always been about taking what exists (for an obvious example here, SE's character designs), and interpreting it in your own way. 2- Likewise, any artist who tries to work in a vacuum is an idiot. Creativity does not mean going from scratch to a masterpiece without any external input or influence. 3- Go back to the sketch. With this one, there is a lot of motion. It doesn't look right to have it in a nice polished form like that; and don't even think of adding motion blur. Unless you're intending to make a gif or video of it, so it's actually moving, keep this one as a lose pencil sketch, it just suits the piece much more. Not everything needs polish. If you want colors, you can always go back over it with coloured pencils (or the equivalent in Photoshop) once you get the details worked out. |
