In all my time in gaming, sigs have always been for style. Show off what you can make. I do understand your point with showing your own character though. A new sig with my stoopid warrior in scale mail is in the works. I'll still keep this around for the simple fact, it looks good.
As far as the sig itself:
I actually didnt put any borders at all in it, the border you do see is a result of drop shadows, various layers, and several other options used throughout. It isnt a skin, it's all rectangles, colors, and blending options. A great sight that has taught me virtually everything I know: http://good-tutorials.com/search/query/signatures | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-12-2006, 07:20 AM | #17 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2006 Posts: 45 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 46,804 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 46,804 Donate | Re: My very firstest sig! | Originally Posted by Jance | In all my time in gaming, sigs have always been for style. Here is my latest and greatest! I hope it's within everyone's personal standards, Id hate to get negative rep and cussed at again.
I feel like it's missing something, but finally just saved it anyway. I like it. It's a bit on the large size, but everyone's taste is different in that area. I think it works pretty well. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-12-2006, 10:54 AM | #20 (permalink) | | anti-spam Super Moderator Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 5,535 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 22 Thanked 64x in 59 Posts Gil: 45,446 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45,446 Donate | Re: My very firstest sig! should try out what Taskmage said earlier about rendering big and shrinking it down. you'll get a much sharper image that way (see Strom's example). | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-12-2006, 01:53 PM | #21 (permalink) | | ONE WAY Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: Confirmed Posts: 2,908 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 86 Thanked 229x in 171 Posts Gil: 29,358 Bank: 13,467 Total Gil: 42,824 Donate | Re: My very firstest sig! I like the scenic background, but the boxes don't seem to do much for it.
I'd pull in the warrior further, and bring the name up under his eyes. You can list your jobs, missions, crafts, and such under it. On the other side you could pull a few more models out of the viewer and create some small scene. Something with you about to lethal drop tech whatever enemy you've hated the most thus far. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-12-2006, 06:05 PM | #22 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Posts: 20 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,364 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,364 Donate | Re: My very firstest sig! | Originally Posted by neighbortaru | | should try out what Taskmage said earlier about rendering big and shrinking it down. you'll get a much sharper image that way (see Strom's example). | That's exactly what I did this time around. Does it still look choppy? It looked pretty smooth to me... I'll play with it some more. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-12-2006, 06:12 PM | #23 (permalink) | | anti-spam Super Moderator Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 5,535 Style: Dark - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 22 Thanked 64x in 59 Posts Gil: 45,446 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 45,446 Donate | Re: My very firstest sig! yeah, see the edges on the GA shaft | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 08-14-2006, 06:06 PM | #24 (permalink) | | Tarutaru Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Australia Posts: 526 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 2 Thanked 5x in 4 Posts Gil: 13,076 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 13,076 Donate | Re: My very firstest sig!
