HM Battle - Play the game.
Before reading on, I'm going to ask a few things from you.
1- Pretend that this is a real screenshot.
2- Pretend this monster exists.
3- No flames or harrasing.
4- Don't hate me.

Okay, that said..

We were in [Junganga Jungle] with a party of 6. Here is the party makeup.

Moaku 75 SAM/RNG
Shippo 75WHM/BLM
Verace 75 DRK/WAR
Tails 75 PLD/WAR
EricFox 75 RDM/WHM
Fever 75PLD/WAR

Now here we are hunting Flaremoogles, a mixture of Flareons and Moogles, for pets (Quest: A Flaremoogle for a Love) and drops. The mobs in Junganga Jungle con IT++ to every pt member too. Crimson Eevees aggro sound and have True Sight, so we had to be very careful. Near the waterfall is where the Flaremoogles pop (for this area anyway).

After much aggro from the Crimson Eevees and defeating them (We wiped twice from these, they link from far away so be careful), we ran into these.

Flaremoogles are weird. They actually walk up to you and stomp you for 0dmg, but they they don't really aggro. But they can be a problem if you're healing when you get stomped from these (You'll stand up). Furthermore, they do the stomping erratically.

Now here is where we actually chose to fight one. As usual, PLD tanked. But these things are hell for a PLD. This one hits our PLD for 300-500dmg a shot and is a MNK mob. He doesn't hit well, so he missed a lot.

But at 50%, we were all screwed. Turns out these things have a hyper mode like the HNMs do, and we started to get PWNED. The monster accuracy increased like crazy, attack speed was boosted, and its evasion just was insane. Not only that, he started to do three attacks, use MNK 2hr, AOE Silence/Slow, spam a frontal AOE fire attack that hits for 800-900 damage, frontal AOE curse, Regen and Cure, H2H WS Asuran Fists, and the dreadful Pom Pom Crush that hits our PLD for 4713 damage. We wiped.

We tried this thing five times so far with 6 people and we got one down to 4% before we wiped. Sixth time we came with an alliance and this thing uses Call For Help. Eleven of those things come, coordinated attacks like an XP party and the alliance wiped. Don't bring an Alliance.
-------------------------

Now, pretend that you encountered this thing. What strategies did you use? How was your encounter? What job were you?

And if you like the picture I drew, that works too. Have fun! [/bored]

Re: HM Battle - Play the game.
Dude... we told you before you attempted this, you wanted this setup:

Pld/Nin
Thf/Nin
Whm/Brd
War/Nin
Blm/Rdm
Blu/Drg

As the big fluffy pompom tossing biatch doesn't have a spike flail, you can turn it with impunity, and it really drops down fast versus fire damage, so a nice Light SC from the War > Thf helps drop it's HP's.

Secondly, Blu has access to some neat effects - the additional Acc Up from /Drg really make a difference when trying to headbutt out it's specials, and the diamondhide effect really helps, although a Smn would be equally as good in it's place.

Thirdly - did you forget your "Vile Stench of the Dark Overlord's Undies" key items? That delays it's hypermode by another 10 minutes, and lowers the chance that Pompom Crush will be used - remember though, every party must have this, else it doesn't work.

Well.. all in all - you did well, but I'm sure you'll become 'Flaremoogle Fatalists' soon enough.

Keep at it! /cheer

Re: HM Battle - Play the game.
Firstly, your tanks were greatly overwhelmed. You'd have been much better off with NIN/WAR or THF/NIN (x3 so that one can keep bouncing hate off the other two) tanks.

Unless they get all uber and start using that AoE AMII, which is gay.

I'm sorry, but a sad possibility is that you'll have to have some CKN/WAR tank this thing, or maybe a BRL/MNK. But calling in a BRL would be overkill. I've heard that the Beard of Invincibility 2hr from CKN paired off with the uber l33t sauce abilities of a WAR sub make CKN the best tanks.

Period.

On any game.

So idk, I'd say to level BRL and solo it, but Bruce Lee is exempt from this, as he is exempt from all things.

Re: HM Battle - Play the game.
Personally, I'd try this set up:

NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BRD/WHM
WHM/BLM

With how badly your PLD tanks were overwhelmed, and even though it's a MNK mob, the only plausable strategy would be to use two NIN tanks and have them bounce hate off of eachother. While they're doing that, the BLMs should nuke spareingly or backup heal while the WHM keeps the tanks alive. The BRD can focus on keeping everyone refreshed, the tanks hasted, the mob elegy'd, and backup healing if needed.

Seems like it would be a battle of endurance to see who can last the longest. You might have to stock up on other medicines like Hi-Potions and Yagudo Drinks just incase, though.

Good luck!
