Can we get a Jeuno/Aht Urhgan message board?

I would like to see some type of message board in Jeuno and Aht Urhgan. Something as simple as typing /mboard and it brings up a list of subjects. You can select the subject and see a more detailed listing. The board could be the same Jeuno wide, so that you can be in Ru'lude Gardens and see what someone has posted in Lower Jeuno. Even viewable in the moghouse.

It could be used to advertise events that people are doing. Quests, missions, BCNMs, Optical Hat runs, and even experience point parties could be organized through the message board. It would have the potential to help minimize shout spamming.

I forsee someone bored, looking for something to do. He types "/mboard" and sees a request for help on RSE. He sends a tell to the person in need and they set out to get the RSE.

Maybe even have something that will monitor it for you. Say you want to do avatar prime fights. You have it monitor for "Shiva, Titan, Garuda, Ramuh, Leviathan, Ifrit." As soon as someone posts "{Shiva} {fight} {Do you need it?}" you can be notified via a sound or message indicating that someone has posted something you are interested in.

Of course, there would need to be some restrictions set. We would want to set a one message limit, to avoid spamming. And once you leave Jeuno, your message is removed automatically. Maybe it could wait 5 minutes and then be removed. This would enable advertising Teleport Services, and even stepping out into Rolanberry to check Bazaars.

I realize that most of my suggestions can be done through the search system already, but nobody uses it to its fullest extent. Maybe we don't need something new, just revamp the search system to make it easier to use for things like this.

I know that some people would abuse it, but people abuse everything else in this game, why not this?

I would like to see a Bazaar section thrown in with a search function. So people and post what they have in their bazaar. Or maybe even have it done automaticaly.

I think the idea is great. As for the bazzaring message board, we already have that it's called the auction house.

I think that idea is great, Haggai. Now, I wonder howm many people would use it though. The closest thing to this that is currently in the game would be the advanced search comments, and as it is, very few people use/look at them ;;.

Perhaps something like this could be added to FFXIO? Both the bazaaring and notice board ideas. Each server forum could have 2 additional sub-forums added to them.

People running long-term bazaars could start a thread stating what they're selling, for how much, and where they are in Vana'diel. This would save bazaar scavengers time when looking for a particular item...i.e. Hakutaku Eye Cluster.

As for the notice board, it would be the same as you explained, but not an in-game function. We could start threads based on missions, bcnm runs, and other events. It'd work best if the event was planned a few days in advance of course. Allowing time for readers to see the post, reply in time to join and be prepared to tag along in-game at the scheduled date/time.

After bazaars are emptied and events completed the OP could edit the OP with huge red text to let everyone know that it's done fer. lol I don't know how reasonable this whole thing is, but I suppose it gives the people in charge something new to think about (unless they already have :O) .

The auction house has nothing at all to do with bazaars. Having played EQ1 for years and years, it was really nice to walk into an area and type /bazaar and a searchable list would come up of everything the player was selling in that zone. If you've ever needed something from a bazaar on FF you know how frustrating it is to search through 50 players and not find what you were looking for.

in the auction house you CAN see what items people are selling.

a searchable bazaar function would make the auction house redundant. as everyone would use it because you can sell as many things as you can hold.

And who sets the standards? Even here at FFXIOnline, where we have probably the most evenhanded moderation enforced at any FFXI fansite, we still get a steady stream of complaints from users who feel they've been slighted in one way or another by rules enforcement (or lack thereof), and we have about a dozen moderators watching the site at various times of the day.

All this would do is make already overworked GMs (who are quite scatterbrained enough as it is) even more overworked.

I don't think he means it to be a message board like we have hear, rather a bulletin board of types that allows you to post messages of things you need assitance with. The idea is great, an dthey had *something* like that in the Vana Tribune, but no one ever used it.

I basically see the same thing as the OP, people able to post their message, have them sorted by category and such similar to the 'advanced' search function and have a limit of one message per player. Though instead of them losing their message after leaving jeuno, make it stay up for one vana week like AH'd items. Just list the hours you're available, which should be included with the message, and people could contact you when they see the message. They could even charge a small fee, just for the hell of it, when you post your message.

If they had a system like that I could see lots of people using it.

If you put a limit on the number of posts a player can have on the board and maybe even have it so you can't type anything, it wouldn't need modding. Like, you could have:

All of the job levels and jobs/subjobs would be choosable by dropdown boxes, as well as the items required. If there seems like too much variation or other things required than an items required box, you could allow something like a 50 character comment, using the standard language filter. I really don't think it would be abused, especially if there was a fee for posting, and the payoff for trolls wouldn't be very high.

I really don't know why you wouldn't want this if it was possible.

If the posts were limited to only certain predetermined content like Mission Assistance, Crafting Assistance, etc. and you could only choose certain specific terms then I'd be OK with it. That sort of a setup could help players who don't have an extensive network of friends to help them with missions.

Of course, getting random assistance isn't always the boon you might expect - quite a lot of the hard things in this game just aren't doable as a pickup group of randomly selected jobs, particularly missions, so I don't think even an ad board like this will alleviate the frustration of people who just haven't got the networking skills to (for instance) get through things with lots of pre-requisites and/or require a lot of coordination like Proto-Ultima, Ouryu Cometh, etc.

I don't think anyone suggested it would be a good idea to use it to set up a Proto-Ultima run, but it would be nice for many lower level missions, bcnms, crafting, assaults, hell you could even orgainze brenner and balista matches with it.

I definitely see where you're coming from with this. When I took an extended break from the game (about 7 months), I returned to find that my former network of friends was practically nonexistant. Even simple things like getting a subjob required the help of strangers, because everyone I'd known (and often helped along, or in some cases, carried along) previously was very firmly stuck in the endgame mindset. Whatever that is.

Not everything is a Proto-Ultima fight. Sometimes you just want to get some folks together to do Rank 4 or something. Or maybe you want to Ballista, or go coffer key hunting, etc.

I still think the biggest hurdle to overcome with stuff like this isn't the implementation, but actually getting people to use it. If someone figures out a way to make that easy, they'll be a hero (of sorts).
