What would you suggest? The items you get from these events are level 1, thus available to everyone. They are just for fun, not for an easy way to get great gear.

If you have a better suggestion, I'd love to hear it.

It was the New Year's event. The year you're referring to was the rooster I believe. We've also had the monkey (opo-opos) and dog (Fenrir).

Re: Better/More Frequent Events (Twinkling Treant)

What do you expect out of these events? The "useless crap" as you term it is just supposed to be something you get for fun, not something that is going to end up being some really useful item that everyone has to have.

"Better" is really subjective. More frequent I can definitely agree with. I'm all for events that are more interactive (I think the current event is pretty fun). But I don't think we need anything more than the novelty items that we currently get from them.

lol no no i love getting a 1% hp, 1% mp belt every event,

Why not give away a free piece of furniture that holds 10 slots, or a manniquin to equip armor in our moghouse. its nothing that you can sell, but is something that would indeed be very useful for main an mules.

Seriously how many years can you keep introducing the same events for the same crap. i know ive chased monsters in town twice, iver killed wandering sams twice. easter egg letters is a horrid horrid event, an its happened twice.

Well maybe if we're all really good, then SE will give us Kraken clubs for the Christmas event this year.

Re: Better/More Frequent Events (Twinkling Treant)

I have to say this years Summerfest was way better than last year, and the reward being firework knocks the socks off goldfish scooping.

Nothing beats firing Muteppo out when you have wiped in Dynamis, or sac pulling using the other one...

Although I wasnt playing around the time of the Twinkling Treant event, it provided us with something useful. Although I didnt particularily like the buffalo event, it provided low level tanks with something useful. Since they were useful they were "Better."

Re: Better/More Frequent Events (Twinkling Treant)

Personally i think that the "novelty" items are fine rewards. Some are better than others, fun stuff (like fireworks dispensers, costume items), utility stuff (reraise wand, warp staff) are IMHO better than the limited use stuff like dash sash or moogles belts (or really pointless stuff like wooden katanas) that may be used on one or two low level jobs if you can be othered to keep 'em. So if you want to tweak the rewards i'd like to see more fun stuff or stuff that can be useful to everyone (no matter job or level). Personally i like random pointless furnature (but i guess i'm in the minority here) but more unique stuff like the VARP stuff would be cool, a clock that chimes, an airship that moves, rather than a set of eggs that sit there... some new fun moghancements would be cool.

However the rewards are pretty irrelivant. It's the actual doing of the event. Some are cool, did azimuth 2 yesterday and had a good laugh. But some are annoying (eggs >.<). Some sound very cool (Treants) but have disappeared. I think whats kind of cool about that one is it's sorta unique.
Who'd take a bet that we'll be chasing monsters round town again come halloween? It's sad to see these special events jus being recycled.
One of the nice things about them is that they give everyone (new and old) a chance to play together. But when this event is the same as last years, then older players aren't as inclined to come back and do it all again.

Mix it up, it'd be okay to occasionaly recycle an event (in a new way), but stick something new in there. Theres loads SE could do. But spelling words with eggs for a set of furnature and ammo egss i already have isn't going to get me excited. I really don't need a third chance to get in on the egg spelling action.

Well, the first Summerfest gave you Goldfish Scooping +1. For people that were interested in Goldfish Scooping, this was a benefit, and thus, better (for them).

Halloween gave you Horror Hats and Warp Staves. Who doesn't love free warping and um...horror?

This year's Feast of Swords gave you Stable Warp Collars. Pretty handy, IMO.

The Easter event gave people eggs that had ok stats on them. For a slot that almost no one uses, that's not so bad a benefit.

As the poster above me so astutely pointed out, the events are about doing them, and having fun with other members of your community. Not phat loots for free. Everything doesn't have to be about what useful items you're getting out of it. Sometimes (and I guess this is a novel idea), it's just about goofing off and having fun with friends.

In that area, I think all of the events have been successful. That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see more interactive events in the future, but I've been pretty happy with them thus far.

Oh, I used them, every sodding time I didn't want to! Two Happy Eggs in my ammo slot and two accidental missile attacks!

XD Yeah, I think we've all been there once in a while. I tossed my Orphic egg accidentally.
