True Kirsteena, we don't get much manga unless we import it, we get half the stuff the US gets, we are always overlooked and its seems with films, games, consoles etc. us europeans are the last ones to get it.

Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

It kinds offends me though to think that a player would in advance decide to join a server because there are more of "their kind" on there... You can always find people on servers from same regions or time plays. JP ONRY pt's piss me off and NA / JP / EU ONRY servers would bring me to quit this game. Alot of friends I have a re JP / EU and NA and I wouldn't of met them had it not been for the mix servers.

Flagging something as "preferred" will create alot of enimity between players (and there's already enough of that) and it would cause -alot- of bitching and moaning between nations that are active on servers. It's not hard to find a LS that is specifically oriented to your needs. There's alot of EU LS's on my server and they seem to be doing just fine, even a HNMLS based in EU is pretty popular.

Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

SE has said before that FFXI was meant to be a game without borders. Which is the reason the theme song is in Esperanto, for one. Also the reason the servers are shared, and the auto-translate function.

And that isn't an outburst, heh. Still, i'd be happy to support it if you leave the server.

It offends me more being unable to play a game I can't enjoy due to population levels. And, I'm not advocating Euro only parties and events, just more people on at specific times to enable Euros to have the playerbase to regularly attend Sky and Dynamis and other events such as HNM that require more than one or two parties.

I'm sorry, but this is a NA point of view. You can't always find people on the same timezone if you're Euro. Previous posters have already pointed this out. Granted, you're on Titan which has already been acknowledged as having a fairly buoyant Euro playerbase, many others don't.

Again, I've been playing since October 2003 on Fenrir and there are no Euro Dynamis shells, only one struggling Euro Sky shell due to lack of members, and no Sea shells. So, no offence, but don't tell me it's not hard to find a LS when I know otherwise.

I'd ask that you behave in as mature a manner is possible for your years and attempt to avoid from trying to derail this thread with thinly-veiled insults that have no basis on my in-game behaviour.

Yes the advertising campaign (what campaign?) was pathetic.

In Finland we don't have download limits, though. In fact we started very well with the whole broadband thing but then we started falling behind. I would guess most people still have 1-2Mb ADSL lines. The 4Mb+ connections are very rare among private users because they're quite expensive.

I think another reason is that the people in countries with the biggest markets (Germany, France) and many other central and south European countries don't understand English.

I'm not the one attempting to derail the topic, that would be you.

I'm not making a big deal out of this, you are. I made a comment, you got defensive. I don't really care. I'm just stating my opinion on it.

If you don't want the topic to be derailed, don't derail it. Simple as that.

Well, if S-E would allow me to transfer my character I'd be sorely tempted. Starting again at level one though doesn't exactly fill me with happy thoughts.

Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

It could be useful if SE allowed you to transfer characters more easily.

Maybe once per account, not including official World Shifts.

Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

It seems like Fenrir is an unlucky server - I know a few servers who have thriving EU populations. I guess when they eventually do another world shift, hope that it can be opened up to a server more to people's liking...

You insulted me and I questioned your reasons for it. Now, you're just behaving like an argumentative child, although I shouldn't expect anymore from you seeing as you still are a child. Fact remains, you made an insulting comment which I called you out on and have still yet to justify. Calling into question the character of a person is an age old way of trying to undermine that person's point of view or, in this case, my post. Now, regardless of board persona, I take my ingame reputation seriously in any MMoG I play and someone who I have never interacted with in FFXI inferring the server would be better off without me isn't something I just turn the other cheek to.

In the interests of maturity I'll walk away from the obvious ensuing spree of argumentative posts and focus on the subject at hand. If you decide you can defend your statement feel free to IM me explaining your reasons, otherwise, I'll just assume you have no basis for your insult other than bad blood on the forums and request you keep this thread on topic.

Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

I know it probably doesn't count for much, but in my Fenrir LS, we have quite a few European players. I've never seen a case in which it has been a problem for my friends. You also have to realize, that you are stereotyping people a bit, IMHO. I know people from all around the world who play all times of the day. Any time of day, in any timezone, you should be able to find some kind of party, and in many cases, big events cause people to play different times then they might regularly anyways. I mean, I've pretty much played FFXI any time, from Five AM to five PM, and while some times may not be completely crowded, there are always, IMHO, more than enough people to do things with/get things done. I also like the fact that I am not on a server with just NAs, as it lets me learn more about other cultures/socities/ect just by talking to people who may not be from my neck of the world, and which is a big part of FFXI, IMHO.

Re: Euro Acknowledged Server

I was on Fenrir for two and a half years, the last year and a half I was a 75 ninja after retiring my paladin at 66. In those two and a half years I attended a grand total of 3 Dynamis events starting between 1 and 2am. I managed to get through CoP by playing on Friday night/Saturday morning at 1am till 7am on most occasions. As for Sky, I tried running with an NA shell on Euro time but they broke shortly after I joined to focus on Limbus and Sky on a more NA friendly timezone. I did join an HK Sky shell for a time and despite being present at months of farming and attending all events I could due to work I continually ended up watching the same select group of Chinese players get the loot over NA and Euro players. I won't bite my lip and fatten the coffers of the few off the backs of the many.

So, really, when I talk about making a regionally acknowledged server it's so people with similar targets as me don't have to go through the same frustration that leads them to quit. While some people are happy levelling permanently and watching others constantly enjoy the full range of activities in the game my goal has always been to immerse myself as much as I can in content. I wanted to do Sky, Dynamis, HNMs. Limbus, etc but I was continually denied this due to issues outside of my ability to control. I could stay up till 7am once a week for the chance to go along to a Dynamis, problem there being they did the city runs on weekdays and only Beaucedine and Xarc on weekends. Assuming I could remain awake do you honestly think that's a reasonable requirement to play a game?
