Fairy a good server for a new player? - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

Since spring break is here and I thought it would be fun to start a new mmo up. I played ffxi a month when the ps2 version came out but left for some reason. I am updating right now and trying to decide on a good server to play on. I was gonna start out as a rdm. Any lses that accept new players? Could anyone get me a wp also? If not I could try to land on Fairy by recreating over and over.

I posted this on the fairy board on killingifrit and got some realyl negative replies.. Thanks for those who answer.

Fairy is one of the more EN populated servers (i think). So more ppl = better chances of finding a party = good!

Yeah, Fairy was one of the server created on the US release of the FINAL FANTASY XI game. With the "World Shifts" that have occured though the EN and JP population seem fairly balanced. You check who's on from like midnight till 8:00AM MST and the population is mostly JP, players active during the time is close to the same count you get when the US primetime of players is out too.

So it seems fairly balanced now maybe a little bit more EN influenced on the server but not more of a decent mix.

I got started yesterday and having a blast. I have met several helpful people on Fairy and got into a nice ls. If anyone sees a rdm ingame named Nirran throw me a tell always liek to chat.

Its random, pretty much different each week. Currently its Windurst.

That's a joke right

Yeah, it is a bit random but most of the time it's Windurst and San d'Oria battling for Rank 1. Once in a while Bastok sneaks it's way into Rank 1.

Hey now, we've been doing better this year. Actually been holding our own. Sandy has actually been losing it lately. They had it last week, but that was the first time in over a month I think.

NA and JP is dominant population on Fairy. Having been on that server since 2003, Now I will say there is a good EU base population, you mainnly will see those people around late night NA time.

If you need help on something, "AND I AM NOT BUSY" I would be glad to help. Name is he same as ingame. 75BLM to NUKE, or 71 DRK to hack and slash.

So yeah, welcome to Fairy enjoy your stay, and wave when you ride/walk by.

Yeah about the Bastok thing, we San'Dorians, have no clue who let them into to the top spot lately, but hopefully this changes this weekend.

Here's some advice for a beginner:

CRAFT early or regret it^^.(don't start smithing or goldsmithing though, those are for the rich people with teh gilZ)

Windy has been in first place for about two months in a row now. Sandy used to be Windy's equal on the server, but they've been slacking off lately it seems.

Also, here we call Bastok "Lastok". Best to live somewhere else, really... >.>

I've never heard Bastok called Lastok before o-o I've been playing for 2 years....

And I <3 Fairy, just avoid Lower Jeuno whenever possible >.>;

Hey Lord,

I'm new to this game, been playing EQOA for some time before finally picing up this game for the PS2 (is why I never got the Slim Line PS2s) Just got a World Pass from a friend in EQOA to come to the Fairy server.

I haven't done much with the game yet, but maybe we can hook up in the game some time.

Cool, since I don't know too many players from Everquest Online Adventures here. There is so much I'd like to do between EQOA and FF11. I'm hoping that my fiance gets into a set patern so I can get some time play in.
