General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
I have just purchased my first egg from jeuno (saving the quest one in case i mess this one up, at least i'll know better what im dong when i get that egg). Basically my plan is to breed over several generations till i get a chocobo ideal for racing. In a nutshell im planning on raising 1 chocobo with my main to get 1st class STR and END and 1 with my mule for DIS and REC to learn Gallop and Canter as soon as possible. My plan then is to mate these 2 chocobos and hopefully gain at least Gallop or Canter (or both if possible) in the new chick, hopefully carrying over the mains STR and END characteristics. Im imagining that if it is at all possible for a chick to have both Gallop and Canter from birth that it will be quite a few generations down the line, but hopefully, eventually one will be born with these two so i can spend the rest of its life building STR and END to make a great racing chocobo.

My question is, will this method work? and is it possible for a chick to be born with both Gallop and Canter? Also, how on earth do you get your choco to learn Auto-Regen?!?

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
If you want Gallop and Canter you cant have Auto Regen, which I think is learnt from that lost chocobo quest. If your breed a 1st class str and end choco with a Gallop and Canter chocobo and your going to want it to be born with Canter (Not sure if you can get both, if you can that would be better but unlikely) as Gallop is alot easier to get quest for/learn with low discernment. Once you learn Gallop, I learnt quiet quickly, pretty much 3-4days after I could tell it the story/get quest, you can switch back to a Str and End raising daily plan and start feeding vomp carrots. If its parent was 1st class str and end it should raise quickly and youll hit 1st class fairly quickly.

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
Another quick question, if i were to raise the two said chocobos can i mate them twice to get two eggs? if so im hopefully going to get both of those new chocos up to 1st class STR and END with Gallop and Canter and breed those two together, maybe that will increase the chance (again if its actually possible) to have a chick with both Gallop and Canter (that would be awsome). Then maybe i could not only have 1st STR and END but also possibly 1st in another stat such as REC or DIS. Maybe breeding through generations this way it would be possible to eventually (possibly like 9th or 10th generation or further)have a chick who would have both Gallop and Canter and the pre-disposition to gain STR, END, DIS and REC stats rapidly, resulting in a 1st/1st/1st/1st choco with Gallop and Canter (the fabled Ultimate Choco!). Though this theory is probably a pipe dream but who knows maybe it would work.

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
You can only have 1st class in Str and End or Dis and Rec, as one set goes up the other set goes down.

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
Damn, so basically my racing chocobo could only have 1st STR & END + Gallop & Canter (im just guessing that DIS and REC wont help me out as much in a race as STR and END) A shame really because it would ahve been a real achievement to finally get that Uber chocobo. I guess in a way that would make the breeding process to get a great racing choco shorter and easier to obtain. I'll just have to get some DIS & REC boosting gear for the little one then. Thanks for your input Aeo.

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
I hope all these questions dont count as spamming but hopefully they will answer a few other peoples questions too, as iv'e trawled through this choco part of the forum a few times and there are still a few questions that i am unclear on. Basically, if i have a yellow chocobo, and i want a blue one (which i very much do, if you are on Bismarck and have a blue chocobo card by the way, please send me a message to Arcessitor) do i have the possibility of getting a blue one by breeding my yellow one with one from a blue chococard? same with any other colour too, I.e, yellow + red chococard=possibility of a red choco?

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
There is a possibilty but almost always has turned out yellow from what Ive heard of people who have done this. Me and my friend always just breed 2 of the same colour and always get that coloured chic.

Hmm ok 2 questions, hehe sorry, i know im a newb but i think the best way to learn is to ask questions to others who know.

1) If i bought an egg from jeuno will the chic be a random colour or will it always be yellow?

2) If just buy 2 chococards for say 2 blue chocos (M & F) and just take those to the guy in jeuno and get a honeymoon package, can those two chocos be bred together and give me the egg? basically is it possible to get a chocobo without having to buy an egg or do a quest for an egg, just having the cards?

Re: General Chocobo Breeding/Raising question
1: Not always yellow, I got a blue one. Depends on how well you treat them. So far Ive only heard of yellow chics being born to pretty crap trainers. Dont feed, excerise etc. Dont even look over it when its still an egg. All helps.

2: Yes, if you have 2 chococards(m & f) you can give them to the guy in jeuno and select a honeymoon package. Your egg will be collectable next day(after jp midnight) I think, takes a while anyway. If you treat it right it will hatch same color as parents.
