Day 1 Noob wants to raise chocobo
Hi!

Well i got the game today as i really liked the idea of raising chocobo, but how long until i can raise them?

Are there lots of missions to do before i can raise them? Like hours of gameplay?

cheers!

I belive you only have to get to Jeuno to buy a egg then you can start raiseing your chocobo, but keep in mind you have to be either level 15 or 20 to ride it when it is old enough (cant remember exactly cause I have not used the item in a long time).

No Ifs Ands or Buts about it.
Rest of my sig

Re: Day 1 Noob wants to raise chocobo
For a level 1 job, the only way to get there is to walk.

If you're in San d'Oria, the route is East Ronfaure > La Thiene Plateau > Jugner Forest > Batallia Downs > Upper Jeuno.

Bastok > South Gustaberg > North Gustaberg > Konschtat Highlands > Pashhow Marshlands > Rolanberry Fields > Lower Jeuno

Windurst > East Sarutabaruta > Tahrongi Canyon > Meriphitaud Mountains > Sauromugue Champaign > Port Jeuno

Here are some maps: www.ffxi-atlas.com. It's a pretty long walk. Probably over an hour if you're going full tilt. The hardest part for a level 1 character is going to be avoiding all the high level aggressive monsters on the way that could probably take you out in one hit, especially since you don't have much experience in the game and don't know what their range of seeing and hearing is.

Re: Day 1 Noob wants to raise chocobo
You can technically start chocobo raising at lv 1, but I would wait untill 20 for several reasons:

1) You will have more experience of the game, and it will be easier to get to jeuno.
2) If a monster does aggro you, you can take a few hits, and mabye get to the zoneline.
3) You will have the money to financially provide excellent care for your chocobo.

That said, if you want to start at lv 1, there is nothing stopping you. First you have to get to jeuno. After that, buy an egg from the mithra in Ru' Lude Gardens or get a later gen egg from opbtaining 2 chococards and presenting them to the breeder there.
