Returning to FFXI: where do i start?

Ive been through many of the post here and i couldnt find the answer. My friend and I are returning from Iraq. we havent played for almost a year now. Our question is when we get back how do we go about getting a chocobo to raise. where and what quests are we looking for? any help would be greatly appreciated and you would be helping two old road weary adventurers out immensly. thank you

You start the quest to get your first egg at the Upper Jeuno stables. Talk to Brutus (I think, the same one you speak with to get your Choco License) and he will tell you what to do. Or you can go buy an egg from a Mithra girls NPC by the AH in Ru'lude Gardens (she is on a platform to the left of the AH). Then you bring it to the Stables in your home town and trade to the VCS member for your stables and the craziness begins. Good luck I'm on Choco number 3 trying to get a Black one.

Just to clarify, it doesn't have to be your hometown, but most people choose their hometown as it is easiest to get to. You can choose San d'Oria, Bastok, or Windurst.
