Learnt Gallop and Canter!

Finally after many many days of not seeing Brutus even one, I met him for the 3rd time today and my chocobo immediately learnt "Canter" after telling the story of a curious chocobo only once ^^

I've been trying to get the 3rd meeting with Brutus for the past 4 days.
My chocobo already reached Impressive discernment on day 32 and met Brutus twice. Only 1 more to go, so I gave him basic care plan just to have more stamina to take on walk. Take 2 long walks, feed chocolixir to restore health to full, and take 2 more long walks. So total of 4 walks a day and for 3 days I kept meeting that Galka from Bastok -.-

Anyway, he's on his 35th day now, poor all physical, impressive discernment and I don't really care about the last one. I'm switching him to physical care plan now ^^)d it looks like he'll have more than enough time to develope up to first class I hope. I have heard that Stress is a hidden attribute that can only be cure with resting care plan too. So I'm thinking about a plan like this

4 days carry packages (str+end)
1 day delivering messages (str)
1 day excersizing in groups (end)
1 day rest
repeat

I threw in excersizing in there just so my chocobo doesn't get bored, don't know if it really matters ^^ I don't emphasis much on delivering message plan because I want a balance str and end build.

The rest care plan explains as "recovering stamina and illness" I'm not sure if I'll keep it there... any thoughts?

How do you learn Gallop and Canter? I want them but I think I have the story for burrow atm and the Youthfull choco one w/e thats for. Do I need to build discernment as well to learn abilities cause thats something Ive heard and Im building str and end atm :/ Gratz btw^^

Gallop is from the Evlaan from San D'oria stable. I'm raising my chocobo in Windurst so I can only meet him during normal walks. I took my chocobo on normal walks daily during his teen and got this story fairly quick.

Canter is from Brutus, for Windurst stable you can only meet him during long walk.

I don't know about other stables. But ffxi wiki should have that information.

I think trying to learn story asap is one reason to use chocolixir/gregarious worms.

My mule's bird is being raised for the discernment and receptivity to learn abilities. At day 32, it has avg dis and receptivity and has already learned gallop. Also attempting to get story for Canter as this bird is for mainly breeding the ability into chicks in subsequent generations for racing. Its a male, yellow in color

My main's bird at Day 31 has avg str and endurance and is a 3rd generation female. No abilities but her focus has been str and endurance.

A good friend of mine in-game has first class chocobo stats, and is about to breed with someone else who has canter and gallop. Will be interesting to see if she breeds the ultimate chocobo...

wow beautiful chocobo ^^ i tried breeding my last cocobo with a red but their son turned yellow lol, the mother is the daughter of a black one she was born with high endurance and was very patient, she also had the high endurance plume ^^ but now i'm raising her son. he is 28 days old (evolving tomorow!! :D SOOOO HAPPPY!) name is meteorwing his str is better then average and his end is average, all the others are poor. he regaurds me as a parent and he is also ill-tempered. here is the story of my generations.
my fist chocobo was names milleneumangel, he brings back found memories of excitment lol but by the time he hit adult.. he looked like a cow >.< he was huge, i felt like a midget on him, the highes stats he got were substsndard. so i retired him cause i didnt know there was such a thing as breeding @.@ i went to jeuno and bought another egg, the first was faintly warm this new one was slightly warm. i took it home and began to raise, this time i was graced with a little girl. i named her crimsonrain. she was cute ^^ she was just like every other rental chocobo i raised her to average str and end then i bread her with a substandard black chocobo named obsidiandreams. their chick was also a girl (please note i always use the sports plan) i was crossing my fingers for black but she turned yellow. she did, however, get the large tail, which i LOVE most and that made me happy. its really funny, my chocobo is like a midget this time >.< the tarus chocos were bigger and i have a pic i can post soon if i can find it >.<^^ so her stats got to better then average and i bread her with a red male named mamasun he was average. and now i am raising thier baby boy, meteor. unfortunatly he is yellow.
i been wanting to get him the abilitys gallop and canter but i'm kinda scared to branch away from the str atributs >.< i know that sounds pathetic... but its true.. hey do you think there is a point in time were if you reach a certin lvl of str that it will not decreese? (pls note my speling sucks ^^)

Last night I finally got Curious chocobo story from Brutus and after 3 tellings my Mule's bird learned Canter.

His stats are as follows: Day 38
Male, Yellow in color
STR - poor
END - poor
DIS - Impressive
REC - Better than average
Knows Gallop and Canter
Regards me as parent.

I raised this bird for dis to learn abilities primarily for breeding. Should I switch over and try to develop his physical stats now that my primary objective for this bird has been met? I know that they wouldn't get very high before hitting peak. I think I might just stay with the current plan and try to breed the abilities into subsequent chocobos that are focused for physical stats.

I think it's a good idea, though I haven't a single clue what canter does (but I'd like to know! You bet I would!). I know it's physical-related though...

I think when breeding I would only concerning about colors and abilities. Not really their personality or stat developement. I'm raising my second egg right now and I really hope it turns out red male.... I'll give train them both to be smart to teach canter and gallop.

Then hopefully, I'll use these 2 to keep breeding each other until I get a new chick that born with both abilities. : /

Then, the stats, I have more than enough time to reach first class if trained from birth anyway >.>

I'm doing this because I want to train my new chick as physical chocobo since his younger days. For his personality to be physically attuned basicly. My current chocobo has big beaks.... and is sensitive. I don't know if these matter for racing but I really prefer big legs small head ones.

To answer the person's question about Canter, Like Gallop its a racing ability.

Hoping to hear something about the chocobo circuit soon.

I think what I will do on my next bird is have it learn the bore, burrow or treasure hunter abilities. Build some flexibility into my stable of birds.

Since you can get chococards for retired birds too. I think this will be a good thing.

I know its a bit of a necropost but I thought seens as its gonna be ontopic I might as well so..

My choco just learnt Canter, knows Gallop too. Any advice on care plan to take it to 1st class str/end? I was gonna just do carrying packages but wiki says thats only good for Str and a choco thats fast with no endurance isnt exactly a good idea. Maybe carrying packages everyday with some resting after 5 days or something? Any input will be appreciated^^

My next 4 eggs I bred from parents with gallop and canter, only born with 1 ability. Got banned before I get a chance to see the result of my 5th egg tho.
