A question about breeding.
Well, it's about time for my 2nd chocobo to be retired. Now, I'm hoping to keep the bloodline going, but I'm not sure about how breeding works, exactly. She has First Class Strength and Endurance, Poor Discernment and Receptivity.

Now, are a baby's stats an average of both parents "I.e. first class + poor = average" or are they simply inherited from one parent or the other? I don't really want my chocobo's stats to go to waste. Also, will these stats be immediately apparent at birth? (i.e. a chick hatches with first-class strength and endurance)

Thanks in advance.

Re: A question about breeding.
I'm not exactly sure on this b/c I haven't ever bred two 1st/1st/p/p chocos, but it appears that the baby always starts with p/p/p/p and then, possibly, depending on the parents inherits a higher growth rate in the stats the parent had high. This could allow for skewing of the arrow sizes on the care plan list so that a negative has a smaller effect than a positive thus allowing you to get higher secondary stats on the same chocobo for instance resulting ina 1st/1st/bta/bta chocobo and subsequent generations perhaps achieving the godly 1st/1st/1st/1st chocobo.

Re: A question about breeding.
Ah, that DOES make sense, as her parents were both substandard (or was it a bit deficient? oh well) in STR and END, and my baby ended up with substandard STR and Endurance before it was even an adolescent. I guess I'd just have to find her a nice date, then...

Re: A question about breeding.
I am on my 3rd generation chocobo with my main char and doing one on my mule as well.

The 3rd gen chocobo is a female, raising it in Sandy. Geared for physical stats
Mother - yellow with better than avg str and end

Father - Black with a bit deficient str.

Day 9 update - my chick has substandard str and endurance

Mule chocobo, is from egg bought in Jeuno, my mule is only level 16 so mainly doing this bird for breeding stock, focusing on Discernment and Receptivity.

The chick is male and on Day 10 - receptivity hit substandard.

Hoping to raise the disc and recept so it will learn abilities so they can be bred into subsequent chicks.

Will keep you all posted if you want to hear more on this experiment of mine.
