Chobi Digging Skill

Theres a little know feature in the game since its a hidden stat.
that is the ability of your skill with your chocobo digging while feeding it gyshal greens.

How do you dig you ask?
Buy gyshal greens near any stable feed these to your chocobo to make it dig.

How much does the gyshal greens cost?
Depending on your fame level anywhere frpm 60-51 gil per green.

How many to buy?
Its best to buy in stacks if you want your chobi to get a really good skill in diggin.
stacks are 12 greens.

So you can skill up chobi digging how many levels does it go?
there are 9 chocobo levels .

Are there chobi digging titles ?
Yes

Is there a chobi digging test?
Kinda since its a hidden stat its a hidden test.

Is there a chobi guild to attend?
No you dont join a guild just ride your chobi and feed it greens.

What are the benefits of digging skill?
Ill detail those below.

Chobi skill levels start at 0 and progress thru 9.

heres a layout of the levels and the benefits

remember when you zone you must wait a certain amount of time before your chobi will begin digging.
your skill will help lessen this affect of delayed time.

To raise your skill is simple keep digging
and you will notice that the waiting time will decrease the more you dig an dfind items.

A tip for digging is to follow goblin diggers.
They have a habit of digging sometimes and will place items in the holes. also when they stop dig where they stop at.

i'm not sure about digging, u said we have to feed it to incrase the skills but also to dig more to increase the skill?

How does it work?

And will the skill of digging stay? or izzit juz in a day or zone?

Say, do i have to feed my chocobo once everytime i want it to dig?
And can i juz dig anywhere i like?

its easy to explain as i have above ill do it again.

A:buy gyshal greens

B:rent a chobi

C: wait 40 seconds after leaving town

D: walk around till you find a digging point

E: to see if a digging point is near you use F1 to highlight yourself

F:Hit enter The combat menu will open. a partial menu but one none theless.

G: You will be given 2-3 options... you want the option that says dig.

H: You can ride around like this with no problem . When you find a dig spot ..

I: HIt enter key on Dig to umm ...well.....Dig ^^.
sometimes you will get nothing(cold) sometimes you will get something(hot).

The better the dig skill the lower your dig wait time
The better the item dug will be .

J: Each dig removes one gyshal green from inventory.
so a stack of 12 = 12 digs .



Yes your dig skill is permanent , i dont know the exact mechanics of it. But its like a symbiotic thing between you and chobi . your skill go from 1 chobi to another when you rent it.

So dont worry .

I'm not getting this, so if its hidden, how are there titles? Or are you just putting down the same tittles as other trade skills have. Is there any way to check your skill or just wait/dig time?

And the "test" to get to a new skill level, do you just have to keep digging till you find it? Can you find it anywhere or in specific areas? Let's say on the first dig i ever did I get a rattan lumbe, is my skill level promoted, so that i have to lesser wait time? or do I have to spend at least 30 mins of constant digging and getting hidden "skill ups" before i have a chance of digging up rattan lumber?

About the goblin digger, do you just dig where he stops or is there an actual animation for him digging?

I got the titles off the link i provided , itseems Square has many hidded features in the game, i just translated from a japanese website I found.

Also this test is not an exact science. on your first dig you could conceivably pass the "test" .
think of chobi digging like GPS caching , where you can go into to a known area where people lose and drop items, sometimes you find them and sometimes you dont.
But lets say the person you are to get the item for wants a ruan log to pass his "test" and you find it first try .
you pass simple as that.
OR you could just take your time and look around for the items.
spending the gil on ghysal greens and getting hidden skill ups.

also the goblin digger does have a rare animation in which it digs.
you can pretty much go /follow on a digger and let him go around and then dig on the area he travels.

yeah I havent finished the xzone list yet but will post it when i have enough time.

oh wow thanks for information no wonder so many people dig. also i found somewhere chicken bones are found in tahrongi the best. says its a easy item but i guess my skill is low

only way to check the skill is to dig and count the number of error messages before next dig.

This discussion on digging Chocobo reminds me of someone i talked to, an npc, in Mhaura. He had something to do with antiques and said something about following the goblins. he also said after finding enough to come back to him. That was back in Beta, and I dont have the game now so I cant go check it out.
