YouTube - Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Trailer
Here it is, and it's lame. Did they fill America with sand, because I don't really see many Persians. I didn't play a lot of either Prince of Persia title, but I still feel entitled to complain about the lead actor.

Re: Finally a Prince of Persia trailer

Thanks. I had to jet so I couldn't post it. But.. I think it looks okay.. I heard a while back Jake gyllenhall would be playing the prince and couldn't see that. He doesn't look too bad as the prince though. Of course, movies made after games don't ever take place like the game, but I'll probly see this movie.. It'll probly be a good failure(yeah redundant, but I think everyone gets me on that) like g.I. Joe was..

Re: Finally a Prince of Persia trailer

Alright, even after hearing Peter Rallis (Movie Buzz) talk about how dumb of an idea it was for Jake to play a persian, I have to admit that the TRAILER looks pretty decent IMO. It probably won't be that great, but I'll go see it anyways. It can't be any worse than Dragonball Evolution or Punisher War Zone.

BTW: I don't remember ever playing the PoP series of games, but I do remember the "Sands of Time" from watching a friend play it.

How odd. Either I'm blind, or there were no sand creatures in the trailer.

Currently there isn't much beyond a teaser to go on, its not really possible to judge it at this point.

Casting by race isn't always a hard-and-fast rule. I'm sure they got the script around to lots of other actors that could fit the profile of the Prince or the others, but it boils down to which one could do it the best for the right price.

Additionally, anything that takes place in "Persia" is to be taken with a grain of salt, its never going to be historical Persia and PoP was never really focused on being historical to start with. Even the Prince is different each time, by both race and time period. He's like Link from Zelda. He's Link, but he may not be that Link. There's a Hero of Time, of the Triforce, of Winds, of the Master Sword, of the Four Sword and of the Beasts. We're at six Links so far. I guess this new one is The Hero of Locomotives?

Anyway, I'm glad they're making the movie based on The Sands of Time, that was a really good story.

Let's just hope that if the movie is successful, they follow it up with something original and not the complete emo-shithead Prince with Metal soundtrack of the games that followed. PoP only just recently returned to form with last year's game and I prefer they keep him closer to the realm of mysticism/ Indiana Jones adventuring than what followed Sands of Time.

Good point. Tom Cruise was obviously not German and they spoke English in the movie Valkyrie..

It was hard to actually tell what was going on. I didn't see any sand creatures but I am guessing the wizard at the top of the tower is the evil guy from the game??

Re: Finally a Prince of Persia trailer

The Grand Vizier has served as the villain for the original PoP waaaay back in the day, The Sands of Time and then the 2D remake fo the classic that was on PSN and XBL for download. So yeah, that guy is a troublemaker.

Dear Lord, this. The game developers openly admitted they went the "darker and grittier" route for increased sales. What they got was "exactly like everything else." The new Prince of Persia was a pretty nice balance (if you stick with it to the end -- I still haven't played the DLC epilogue).
