Re: Transformers 2 Trailer

This topic made me think of this:

Different reasons but my reaction would probably be the same if I was forced to watch these movies. <_<

See, women to me are a little like christmas presents.

I expect there to be something more than the pretty wrapping paper.

Neither of the girls in the movies are that pretty, nor do they have any sex appeal to me, sorry but I don't see the appeal. All they are are women in scanty clothing with craptons of makeup and stuff.

Real women have curves.

Re: Transformers 2 Trailer

It depends on the girl. What you hate in one girl can be incredibly attractive on another.

Women are weird like that. /shrug

No. Due to it continuously insulting my intelligence by assuming I wouldn't notice all the wtf moments, I wanted to walk out several times as well. My GF seemed into it, though, so I stayed.

From what I can tell here's how the plot goes down

To be honest the movie started out really well, and slowly slid into its own grave. Michael Bay must have been doing multiple drugs while he dug that grave.

After reading that review I am highly tempted to go see this movie!

There's a theater out here that just has a flat $2.00 ticket rate, or something like that, tickets aren't more than $4.00 at anyrate I think. It only shows the movies when the other theaters are roughly done with them, so I'll just wait until that theater has Transformers 2 and go see it in there.

Re: Transformers 2 Trailer

A week late, but I didnt see it until last night. Have to say, it really sucked. The human transformer thing made no sense and they made no attempt at explaining it at all. Just a "oh, by the way, some transformers can be exact copies of humans." Also, WAY too long. I especially enjoyed the 30 minutes of "only a few more miles" followed by some running around in the sand and then "only 3 more miles" some more running "only 2 more miles" and some more running. I've never gone the movies and wanted it to end as much as I did last night. And the part where Optimus get wings and a jet pack was just laugh out loud funny.

Q: Why is it the autobots wanted to protect the Cube in the last one, yet the only transformers it creates are decepticons? Seems like that would be something they'd want to destroy.
Q2: What was the purpose of Sam's roomate? He wasn't funny, he wasn't part of the plot, he was just useless and helped to needlessly drag out the movie.

We used to have one of those, we just call it the $2.00 Show. They either got the movies that nobody else would take, or movies that had been out for awhile that everybody had seen. Closed last year though so we now have to pay full price.

Re: Transformers 2 Trailer

While I have yet to see it, I have read reviews and feel I can shed some light upon the matter:

Duh, how else where they supposed to find the knowledge that the transformers have been to earth before? Not like all the transformer graffiti sprawled all over the ancient wonders of the world was a give away mind you.

'cause if they destroyed the Allspark then they would in effect, be killing all of the future Decepticons that could have been created and possibly become an Autobot of their own free will. Wouldn't be any better than good 'ol Megsy at that point.

It's kinda sad to hear that this movie sounds so disappointing. Transformers was one of my childhood favorites and I don't think that there was any reason at all to produce such, for the most part, wonderfully animated movies with such sub par plot lines.

I guess the studio really wanted to capitalize off the last one and Bay told them he could just blow crap up for 2 and a half hours.
I have to say, the cussing was a little odd. It isnt something that usually bothers me in a movie (i can cuss like a sailor pretty often, myself) but it just seemed out of place here. I guess because I'll always think of Transformers as something that is highly marketable to kids. That coupled with the fact that even though it was an adult movie, there were still several stupid "kiddie" type cliche's and stupid humor. Just seemed out of place.

I remember the animated movie in the 80's had a moment of swearing and as it kid it broke my suspense of disbelief because prior to the movie, I had never seen a transformer swear.

It was Maximus Prime, "Dammit, Optimus, you said the matrix would give us the power" or something to that effect. I think this was the flick where there was that massive planet-eating robot roaming around the galaxy and they autobots were out to stop it from taking Cybertron and Earth while decepticons were out to control it. And something about energon cubes. Or I could just be running that together with the animes.

Personally, I just hoped for the day I could see Voltron kicking transformer ass. Voltron was way less convuluted.

MUCH less convoluted: Zarkon sends monster to Arus. They fight it. Zarkon shoots it with the get big beam and they have to make Voltron to defeat it. Rinse, repeat.
The giant planet eating planet was Unicron.
I know Spike said "Oh shit, what do we do now." But I don't think that was in the US theatrical release, but I do remember dammit being in there somewhere, too.

You should watch Beast Wars.

The Human Transformer thing was a nod to Pretenders, Transformers who could take Human, or organic-like shells over their robot forms. Though apparently she was explained in the comics as scanning a theme park animatronic character or something.

The cube makes decepticons out of earth devices because most earth devices were built based on technology salvaged from Megatron. In effect, which was explained in the first one, all of the technology from the modern age was reversed engineered from Megs and thus that spark of evil is still contained within. So when you're computer crashes on you the night before you have to hand in that big paper and you lose everything? It totally did it on purpose. And Sam's roommate was just more comic relief, Bay has a simple sense of humor and he got laughs out of the theater I was in.

Iirc he actually dropped the S bomb twice in that film and it was most certainly in theaters. It didn't make it to the initial VHS release however. But the mercilessly killing all the old favorites in 5 minutes was. Transformers has always been Hasbro's biggest brand and they've always liked to take chances with it. Sometimes it crashes and burns like the childhood scarring '86 movie and sometimes it makes multiple millions of dollars like the "childhood raping" '09 movie.
