Boo! Of course, it probably works perfectly well. I just really loved 2nd Edition (pre-Psionics, prz).

It's actually a lot of fun (yes, even Psionics, which had been fixed to be A> not broken, and B> more integrated into the game, instead of feeling like an after-thought addition tacked on at the end). They're already coming out with 4th Edition, however, and from what I'm hearing, it's not sounding too good. They're doing away with classes, and, instead, are going with "roles" and making the player build their own "class", assigning JAs and JTs as they go along, essentially. They're also trying to condense the game mechanics to having everything based off a single roll, but if it's not the D20 system, I'm not sure what they're going for. In other words, 4th Ed. is shaping up to try to sound like it's an MMO in table top form. |

| Re: Death of Gary Gygax This is the impression I'm getting as well. So many of the posts I'm reading on other forums are about "grinding builds" and stuff like that. What about the RP, people?

Grinding in a tabletop RPG seems very stupid. I mean, it's 'pen and paper'. Just make the small addition of 'whiteout', and you're all set. |

Thank you so much Grizzle (and everyone else) for remembering and honoring this great man. I know Gary and Gail quite well and have enjoyed many rousing conversations with him about gaming. Gen Con's were a huge part of my life growing up. He would also encourage me to "keep on truckin" when I was young and having a hard time being a girl gamer. I have so many fond memories and he will be sorely missed by anyone who's life he touched. I will be attending services and I will give Gail all of your best wishes.
