Firstly Garfield always sucked and therefore, so did the movie. However!, you NEED to see Transformers. Its the best movie of the year.

They are making a G.I. Joe movie. Much like back in the 80s, Hasbro used Transformers to test the waters to see how popular a movie based on their toys would fair. However, the recent TF movie did FAR better then the original (reached the top 20 domestic iirc, nearly $700 million worldwide and the sequel already signed and slated for a june '09 release) and as such the G.I. Joe movie that was being thrown around started picking up speed.

Also being thrown around is a script for a live action Voltron which combines the 'grittiness' of the original JP version with the 'fantasy' of the NA dubbed one. Overall it wasn't that bad of a script imo, though it certainly was different and a bit corny in places. There's even been rumors of a live action Thundercats. After the comic book movies took off like rockets, movie producers realized that such things as comics, cartoons, animes and even games all had great stories, plots drama and action that put many feature films to shame. As such they want to cash in on the success of those forms of media by incorporating them into their own. On top of these '80s property movies, there's also tons of game (halo and both Gears of war and god of war are all supposed to have live action movies), comic (new hulk, ironman, flash, JLA),and Anime (DBZ, GitS, Robotech) movies being considered and developed for love action US audiences. Movie makers don't have to make their own stories anymore as now they can just 'develop' a pre-existing one and make use of it's fanbase and popularity to make their money. Originality is dead.

As for the Alvin and the Chipmunks movie, as someone who used to watch the show as a kid, all I can say is meh. A new movie can never change how much I enjoyed something as a kid and all the screams of 'raping childhoods' is simply stupid imo. Especially if people are being serious with their outrage.

If you don't like the new version coming out just ignore it. If it sucks it'll just go away, if it's great then that's a good thing for those who enjoyed it. But there's never any reason to get so bent out of shape over a movie.

Wrong. The reason these movies are so horrible is because they trick you into going, hoping it will be good, even if your brain says otherwise, since it's a childhood memory.
