My Mood: | Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters
Finally came out last night, and naturally, being a large ATHF fan, I had to see it. (un)Lucky for us, there was only one cinema in town showing it for whatever stupid ass reason. So needless to say, it was sold out when we arrived for the 9:55pm show. Meh, bought tickets for the midnight showing. Let me say that I haven't enjoyed an animated movie more than I enjoyed this one. Hell, it was funnier than almost every other comedy I've seen to date. Laughed my ass off, and then some. Of course, this is is personal preference and what not . So, anyone else see this yet? Like it? Love it? Hate it? Stoned?

ATHF hasn't been funny in a long time. Chalk it up there with all the other retarded comedies with zero comedic value that people somehow enjoy, such as Family Guy, South Park, etc. Shock value is not humor. |

Your post carries zero weight with me after referring to South Park as retarded (used in the form of an insult, not the form of being relatively slow). Also, Family Guy has been one of the funniest animated shows on tv in a long time (also South Park).

South Park is one of the smarter, and more truthful, shows out there imo. The 'shock value' of South Park is that it's so blunt with it's messages that the only way to miss them is to only *care* about the actual shock value. I.E. the episode where cartman learns to poop out his mouth. More people will focus on that part, or the scene with Martha Stewart and the Turkey then the blatant and obvious message at the end about religion. Though that's not to say the show doesn't have it's share of pure 'shock' and such. Edit: As for AHTF, not a big fan myself. Closest I'll come to watchin the movie was when they showed it in the bottom corner of the screen on April Fools. |

I've never really been a fan of ATHF. I dunno, I just don't find it funny. South Park and Family Guy are hilarious to me whenever I catch them. According to the review I read, the ATHF movie is pretty much just like the show only bigger, so if you're already a fan of the show you'll love the movie but if you're not there's no reason to buy a ticket.

I don't know why AS bothers to make their own shows, they all suck, honestly, always have. Should replace their shows with more fox shows (American Dad anyone?) and more anime. Good anime too, not fangirl anime.

Fan girl anime has its place, Tenchi Muyo for example.

That's more of a harem anime than a fangirl anime. Hence, Fanbois. |

I found ATHF funny at first, but it's really a hit or miss thing with me, it's the main reason why I'm not rushing to see the movie. But yea, Adult Swim should stop with making their own shows. 9 oz Mouse(or however its called), Saul of the Moleman, Squidbillies, Tom Goes to the Mayor, etc etc are really crappy. Their own original show that I've actually liked was ATHF itself.

Then what's a fan girl anime? Inu Yasha? And I thought Tom Goes to the Mayor was decent. I can't say the same for 12 oz. mouse though. I've watched countless episodes and I can never figure it out that well.

Honestly, I would love to see more anime from them, since cable took away the Anime Network(F**king bastards should burn in hell). But I really never understood what ATHF was shooting at. In my half-assed opinion... It's a lame show with no comedy, just random... stupidness? Edit: Meatwad is kinda funny I guess.

I would say Bleach and Trigun are bad choices too. AS needs harem anime and bloody shit. Don't know about the first, but Cowboy Bebop is definitely more suiting for them.

Cowboy Bebop is an amazing anime, they should have more 'underground'(anime that doesn't usually come to amrica) anime on AS. Coboy Bebop wasn't exactly underground, but it was hella cool. The Big O was also a very nice, but controlled anime.

American Dad is terrible, Big O made no sense at all and thus terrible, etc, so forth, and so on. American Dad is by the same people who do Family Guy, and it's almost the exact same formula except less "remember that one time I did that one thing with that one person?" flashbacks. I began to enjoy the new series they've done but I doubt they'll make it very far before they run out of material and Fox drops the axe. Big O, man, talk about random, random, random nonsense. I can't help but think we're getting the short end of the stick with the dubbed version. All South Park does these days is parody fairly current events with grade-school humor. So many other comedy series do this as well. Futurama has always been funny, but Comedy Central is picking it up now so its fate is dubious. Comedy Central picked up reruns of Scrubs which was a welcomed addition to the line-up, but they still rely on so many terrible shows such as Carlos Mencia, and the aforementioned. Reno 911 has its moments. They need to go back to the old days of Kids in the Hall, Mr. Show, UCB, etc. The new seasons of Mad TV have been their best ever. They aren't completely reliant on current events and have a handful of original content. Last night they actually had a sketch on comedy television shows but they only mentioned such blowhards as Reba, Two and a Half Men, and something about Jim Belucci. Kids these days will do drugs and laugh at anything. |
