Gear Critique

Hey all,

Was just looking to get some other opinions on what upgrades would help:

TP:
Weapon: Thal
Grip: Pole Grip
Ammo: Tiphia Sting
Head: W. Turban
Neck: Chiv. Chain
Earring: Brutal / Assault
Body: Zahak's Mail
Hands: Dusk
Ring: Rajas / Woodsman
Back: Amemet+1
Waist: Swift
Legs: Barone
Feet: Dusk

WS:
Head: Wyvern Helm
Earring: Triump x2
Ring: Flame Ring
Belt: Warwolf Belt
Feet: Rutter Sabaton's

I know I can replace the Dusk pieces with some R/E. Homam has a long wait list, but Aurum would be possible.

Re: Gear Critique

Drakesbane?

Not sure how many hits Drakesbane is but Penta is like a bazillion hit WS so above all stack that ACC. you'll see a noticable difference in Damage, and also TP return.

I would WS in ACC before anything else.

WS:
HEAD::Ohat, the new Moogle head with 15 WS acc +4 str is awesome and that's only 1 augment
Earring:: get a Fowling for realz
Ring:: More ACC
Belt:: Potent you get your str, and 8 acc
Feet:: Aurum if you can, arguablly the nicest aurum piece.

Honestly I haven't played dragoon, i'm just basing this off of Multi-hit WS Experience. Someone else help me out if i'm talking out of my ass

Re: Gear Critique

I went with +10Acc, +5 Attack, +15 WS Acc, +4 Str for my Pups Strining pummel build.

Pretty epic, you could probably afford to go with Double attack, or haste etc. as Drgs acc is much better than pups.

Re: Gear Critique

It's basically the single best WS piece for the head ever bar none (except in the case of SA + WS in which case there are a couple of good items but MEH)

WS:
Head: Wyvern Helm
Earring: Triump x2
Ring: Flame Ring
Belt: Warwolf Belt
Feet: Rutter Sabaton's
TP:
Weapon: Valkyrie Fork (Cletine is also very nice for drakesbane but the Fork is just sex)
Grip: Pole Grip (You're just fine with this)
Ammo: Tiphia Sting (Black Tathlum is very sexy)
Head: W. Turban (You can swap for Askar for some extra STR & DEX if u need it)
Neck: Chiv. Chain (Love Torque or Ancient Torque are insane)
Earring: Brutal / Assault (Fowling, Etheral & Hollow are all good but so is the assault.)
Body: Zahak's Mail (Grats on having one of the best DRG bodies in the game O.O)
Hands: Dusk (Other than the +1 or Homam you're golden here)
Ring: Rajas / Woodsman (Toreador's Ring is nice)
Back: Amemet+1 (Forager's or a Cerberus +1 but otherwise fine)
Waist: Swift (can DRG use Velocious/Speed Belt?)
Legs: Barone (Homam)
Feet: Dusk ( Homam)

WS:
Head: Wyvern Helm
Earring: Triump x2 (keep Brutal on for WS. 5% DA > 2 STR)
Ring: Flame Ring (I would keep the accuracy ring on for penta and drakesbane)
Belt: Warwolf Belt (again, accuracy is critical for mutli-hit WS)
Feet: Rutter Sabaton's (Hecatomb)

responses are in brackets. your gear is already pretty solid, though you may wish to get your hands on some hecatomb for WS. Always always ALWAYS make sure accuracy is capped on Penta/Drakesbane though, and I would actually use the AF + Relic Helm combo for your WS. It will boost the accuracy and potency of your wyvern's breaths greatly.

Bad! Bad Malacite! First of all, not everyone can just waltz up to Odin and nab themselves a V-Fork. Secondly, how many times must you be told that Crit Rate+ is not that good of a stat?!? I mean, with you it's always the same thing - I didn't even have to look up the dang Cletine to know it was a subpar weapon with Crit Rate+ on it and I'm not even a Dragoon! Even if the measly 3% Crit Rate meant the difference between a Drakesbane that Crits three times instead of twice, you're still much more likely to get more results with (off the top of my head) Mezraq or Thalassocrat (which the OP has already) just from the Evasion Down effect allowing one to use Drakesbane more often (and with more base damage on it, to boot!).

I mean, like I said earlier, I'm no Dragoon, so any advice I could give borders nonexistence, but seriously, Mal: what's with you and your fetish for the words "Critical Hit Rate+?" Just freaking merit it and be done with it already (and that only because the "Other" category generally lacks super-useful stuff, anyway).

Re: Gear Critique

It's still a damn nice weapon. Maybe not better than his Thal (in fact after looking @ it again it actually has lower DPS >.> but I still say the +crit rate is nice on crit WS, though outside of those not so much) but still a nice weapon given that it's basically free.

Also, Einherjar's not that bad tbh. You just need to find a good shell. The drop rate on the Fork is surprisingly high and I'd be shocked if there was a lot of competition for it. DRG's not exactly the most popular end game job >->

Honestly, barring Relic/Mythic you won't find a stonger polearm than the Fork or Thal +1.
