DRG in sky or HNM?

Not trying to stir crap...after the recent update...2hr seems useful but it doesnt seem AS useful as it could...but outside of the 2hr DRG is basically the same with a smaller wyvern timer...i cant see still how they are useful in HNM scene or sky outside hate reset every 2 hrs...

So i just wanna ask..what can they do..? DRK can Stun, MNK Chi Blast, and RNG do dmg pretty well...but what can DRG do? Last time i went to sky DRG/SAM just did Skewer for skillchain vs Seiryu(then whiff alot..but everyone whiffs)...but it doesnt seem to have niche to me that makes it OMG I WANT A DRG IN THE LS...cuz as always the needed jobs are something other than DRG..><

If they dont have a good role...what do you think needs to be done to do so? Or what is it that we are overlooking with what we currently have?

(please excuse my word choice or spelling mistakes..i havent slept entire day...)

Re: DRG in sky or HNM?

Our best role is Drg/Whm and not on the front lines. Sure, you could be there on the front lines but it might detract from your ability to rebuff your allies when the mages are busy elsewhere.

Re: DRG in sky or HNM?

And how do you recommend to counteract the evil Auto-Regen trait? I am curious, because DRG/WHM is not useful without AF Helm and needs to be 50%(?) HP to be activated. Obviously one way i can think of is poison potions and Spirit Link(to ensure survival of the wyvern before 20mins is up and also drain your own HP) but thats not reliable is it..? Its scary to see you with low HP as well. Could you go into more detail? Does Healing Breath target anyone in alliance or outside pt(if it does, then theres alot more potential there..)? Does Healing breath only do HP? Does it also remove status?

Its just sad to see most DRG do so far with what i seen is either open skillchain, 300TP Spirits Within, or whiff =/

You sub whm, or sub thf, SA wheeling thrust, and keep yourself low on the hate list.

Re: DRG in sky or HNM?

The DRG doesn't need to be below 50% for Healing Breath to work. The wyvern will heal anyone in the party that's below 50% regardless of the DRG's HP (of course, the DRG himself can meet that requirement.) Also, if I remember correctly, the wyvern will always give preference to the person with lowest HP. Healing Breath only recovers HP, though the Wyvern can cure status ailments when the DRG does a WS. I'm not sure if the -na breaths will work on party members, though.

We have 2 dragoons in my HNM. One of them is a powerhouse and is a welcome addition at camps.

That is the most orgasmic discovery i have ever had in my life. I guess the DRG in my LS that subbed SAM just didnt know what he was doing...thanks guys this is very insightful.

Does this work in Alliances the breath..? I also feel this would be very good if they can combine it with their 2hr on certain BLMs that go a little nuke happy and would gladly like to get their hate reset too(has seen at least 1-2 BLM deaths every time due to triggerhappiness).

Thanks for everyone's insightfulness.

Re: DRG in sky or HNM?

From what I understand, Healing Breath will NOT work on alliance members.

Re: DRG in sky or HNM?

That and it wouldn't work with your 2 hour since your 2 hour "eats" your wyvern.
