I thought your post on DRG/RDM was excellent and it prompted to consider other more daring sub jobs for DRG. I was wondering if have any opinions what the pro's and con's of a DRG/WHM would be VS. a DRG/RDM. Anybody's opinion would help | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 11-26-2003, 03:17 AM | #18 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 1 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 118 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 118 Donate | Awesome info, i was thinking of playing this combo once i get the game and you have pretty much summed up exactly what i want to provide for a group. Excellent info i am sure from an excellent player.

As a DRG/RDM I'd assume it can use breath weapon as well as heal.
Is the wyvern multi-role ability really worth it over straight offense? I was a RDM full on to 30, then something told me that being a DRG would be so cool, So I upped the War as a sub for a bit (lvl7) for the DRG. But then I realized that I can't be a 20+ drg with a sub of 7 on the war. So I brought in the RDM. It is a great combo I think (with you healing yourself and others if needed only once I am afraid) It is a tough combo tho. Being 38/19 my mana is only 49 I think, which is just enough for the 'Magic Pull' Macro and one Cure 2 The food that Taziari has told us bout is a god send, and those Kabobs are something that is lovely period even if you aren't a RDM sub.
Taziari my only question to you is this, With the Penta Thrust, is it better with the WAR sub or no ? What is your take on it ?
Also I can see that most of the DRG will sub Sam. You will more then less have to Sub a war sooner or later with the sam. I will try the WHM for a bit at the early lvls but for some reason I can see having a SAM/RDM not doing as well as a DRG/RDM. And besides, Just lvl you war to 20, Perfect lvl I think for a sub, you will not past 30 anyways so why bother =)
Edit: Aramis The Wyv still heals with the RDM. Along with getting rid of the aliments of other pt members as well. and the WYV does it well too, I do think it is a FULL heal of someone at 1/4 hp
Edit NO. 2: DRG's are not tanks period. Do not have ppl say oh you are a higher lvl you be the tank. The DRG are damage dealers and that is it.
If any New DRG's are on Rag and want any advice please Look up Hidetora I will be more then happy to help you out.
And Please do not be discourged when ppl say a DRG/RDM BAH BAD COMBO !!!!1111
Not only was I a puller last night but I saved many a RNG, Pal and a Sam =) Keep your head up! | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-04-2003, 12:01 PM | #23 (permalink) | | Psylocke's Pal Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Location: Windurst Posts: 3,237 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 7 Thanked 24x in 14 Posts Gil: 56,969 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 56,969 Donate | umm okay , only reason im doing this is because alot of people seem very interested in this thread so, hopefully, it doesnt look like im bumping a topic for self.

I've been leveling theif all this time but after reading this I think it fits my play style better.
"hit and away is my style" (you get an extra cookie if you know what game that's from)
my only question is, does this style get adversely affected by me being a taru taru??
p.s.
taru taru + dragoon = KAWAIII!!!!!!! | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-12-2003, 04:09 AM | #25 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Posts: 14 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 131 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 131 Donate | I am not the Greatest DRG/RDM by any means but I would think that you being a taru would help you in the Mana dept. At 45/22 I only have 61 mana points (Elv). And in the PT I had last night it helped. Regen is a god send, But Damn I need refresh badly. But if you have a good RDM or a BRD who can cast refresh or the song to gain mp you should be ok.
Tazirai Do you plan on Subbing SAM with your DRG at any point ? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-12-2003, 12:54 PM | #26 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 79 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 144 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 144 Donate | thanks thanks for the info, yeah with the added mana I should be able to toss some regen's on myself to compensate for the hit points. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-13-2003, 11:23 AM | #27 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 69 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 390 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 390 Donate | hi, thanks for the info tarza. a couple questions if you don't mind: i was just wondering about the dragoons heal breath ability if we use drg/rdm. so the heal breath would cure all pt members in a certain radius and remove their status effects? how much hp would it heal as a percentage? do you think this is a very useful thing to have that would make it a very useful addition to a party, comparable to a drg/war? there are lots of enemies that give area of eefct damage andstatus effects so i was thinking this could be a very useful thing to have. on the other hand how does this compare to the drg/whm? wouldnt the drg/whm be a better choice if we a re going down this path? more mp, stronger spells, and auto regen? I just would have to hate leveling up a new whm since i already have a rdm though
what do you think? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-13-2003, 11:29 AM | #28 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 69 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 390 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 390 Donate | and another thing, at the very highest levels of redmage couldnt i cast stoneskin, phalanx, blink, enthunder, on myself? stoneskin and phalanx are spells you can only cast on your self correct?wouldnt this make me much stronger stat wise, or will i still be weaker taking damage and dishing it out than a drg/war, drg/sam?
thanks. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-13-2003, 11:45 AM | #29 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 140 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 186 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 186 Donate | By the time you get those defensive spells as RDM you will have super jump, and pentathrust. So you'll be acting exclusively as dmg. Oh, and a public service message for those who have missed it the past seventeen million times.
