I think all the dragoons out there wish the timer was less. It's not that annoying, but you have to manage your timer so that you can have your wyvern out most of the time. I usually make sure that I have a "buffer" wyvern. If my wyvern's not out, and I'm going to log out, I'll summon her so that when I come back to play, I'll have my wyvern, and the timer will be refreshed as well. |

Thanks. When you say the timer will be "refreshed," what do you mean? Do you mean that every time you log out, you have to wait the full 2 hours again, no matter how close you were to it being up? or that when you log out and log back on, the timer is gone and you can summon one? |

When I say that the timer will be "refreshed", I mean that the cooldown time for my ability will have passed. Let me clarify the "buffering" concept. Scenario 1: After a hard night's work, I log off. My wyvern's dead, but I'm in town and don't want to exit town just so I can summon it before I log out. The next day, I log in. I decide to do a little treasure hunting, so I exit town, summon my wyvern, and fight some monsters. Suddenly, I get a pt invite. Their party is in a far away place, so I'll have to use a chocobo to get there. However, if I ride a chocobo, my wyvern will die. I have no choice but to ride the chocobo and then wait another 2 hours for my wyvern to come back. In the meantime, my party is not at full strength because of me not having my wyvern out. Scenario 2: After a hard night's work, I log off. My wyvern's dead, so I run out of town and summon him before I log out so I can have a buffer. The next day, I log in. I decide to do a little treasure hunting, so I exit town and fight some monsters. Suddenly, I get a pt invite. Their party is in a far away place, so I'll have to use a chocobo to get there. However, if I ride a chocobo, my wyvern will die. That's not a problem though, because the last time I summoned my wyvern was more than 2 hours ago, so I can summon it again. I ride a chocobo to my new party's leveling area, get off, and summon my wyvern. Everyone's happy. Understand? | |

Ah! Thanks a lot! I understand it all now ![]() Though the two hour timer seems way too long, I suppose if you can manage the time right or whatever, it'll be ok. I personally think you should be able to summon the wyvern any time you want, though. Oh well. I think all my wyvern questions have been answered. Thanks for the help guys. |

You can only get Advanced jobs (sam, drg, smn, nin, brd, rng, pld, drk, bst) at level thirty or above. To fight the dragon for dragoon job i just took a high level samurai in my ls who was very nice to take me to defeat him. It takes away from you actually defeating him but it still works and if you take a party if you want to fight him for real i think a party of 5-6 people at level 30 should be fine(someone correct me if wrong)

so is a dragoon worthless without summoning the dragon? the way im hearing it you need to rely on him 110% and if he dies log out for 2 hours cuz or else youll die...

No, a dragoon isn't worthless without his or her wyvern. The wyvern just adds to the dragoon's ass kicking potential. Besides, if you manage your ability timer right, you won't have to wait 2 hours in between wyvern summons.

i know about logging out in a field or dungeon dismisses your wyvern, but what happens if you were to lose your conection to the internet? i know with chocobos you cant log out unless u get off, but if you disconnect (lose connection) , you can re-log on and you'll be on your chocobo. is wyvern treated anything like this? That would make gameplay for those who lose conenction impossible if they had to wait 2 hours after they lost their wyvern each time. |

If you lose your connection, your character will just disappear from the world after one minute. The only thing that won't be saved will be your macros. If it's not explicitly said in my guide, you will not loose your wyvern. For example, losing your connection in a field or dungeon will not cause your wyvern to die. Also, logging out in a field or dungeon will not cause your wyvern to die. Exiting to POL in a field or dungeon, however, will cause your wyvern to die. |

why would you exit to POL and not log out? To play Tetra Master?
