Cutting up a model?
Well it seems that most of the NA mod sites are kinda dead at the moment, but I'll try asking for help anyways. Is there a way to take the Elvaan Female top (the swimsuit thing) and separate the merged hands from the body piece? I'm working on a project and need gloveless hands and those are the only ones that really look like what I want to work with. I'm mostly just a retexturer though and seem to have bad luck when trying to delve into actual polygon changes.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Re: Cutting up a model?
You could use VRS to do it, just gotta know where the wrist actually cuts off for normal hand/glove armor. Open another hand .dat, delete those parts, and copy over the hands to that .dat. Should be a basic tut around here or on the forums here under VRS - http://www.ffximc.com/ GL.

Re: Cutting up a model?
Even following tutorials, VRS and Metasequoia are a little over my head. I end up with things looking more like prickly hedgehogs than proper dat changes. I'm assuming doing a cut job like this would be even more difficult and complex than other polygon changes?

Re: Cutting up a model?
I don't think there is no other way to cut the hands off the model.

Well much of this process is kind of more then what you really need to do. Just open the swimsuit top and delete the vertex's that are not needed leaving only the hands. Then just save it, at this point if you see it in modelviewer it should look like the body is missing when you pull up the Swimsuit top.

Then just retexture that .dat and publish as gloves. That is the direct method and don't forget to take that ##org.dat file and put it back to ##.dat so that you have the swimsuit still. Otherwise when you enter the game you see floating heads with hands and legs (When the person is wearing a swimsuit).

Cheezy Test Result (I am nerdier than 96% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!)
