Looks like FFXIdats is going to be down for a bit. Site got hacked by some turkish people who don't like the pope or the vatican so felt the need to express themselves by hacking a FFXI website.

First off. They are not Hackers. They are Script Kiddies, who Exploited a known public vunlerabilty in the system, that they found on the net. That was not fixed. I saw this comming.

First off, I recommened Disabling your javascript and staying away from the main page.

In the abbsence of Zenith. I will be kind enough to fix the site as much as I can. I hope (he/she) won't mind. I"ll explain it to (him/her) later, I won't tell how i''m goign to help but here in public. I'll be kind enough to do so.

I've fixed it up. Etc. I"ve made a public Post here.

By chance have the Ip address of the people(s) involved you can PM me to add to a ban list?

I do, I could, but Its totaly pointless. In Turkey no one has static IP's. So they constantly change. The only solution would to ban every turkyish IP range. (which i'm goign to do for my site when I get around to it)

Yes Scipt Kiddies are just People, who use public exploits that are published. And then go create havoc for any unpatched sites. And then call themselves Hackers. Which they are not in the least.

The site is fine now, nothing there. All they did was put a mian page message, and embedd a MP3. There is notheing there anymore.

Yeah, script kiddies are annoying little nusances. Though IP banning is really not a solution at all. Since many people that access the internet are on Dynamic IPs and if they know how can change their IP. Then of course if you ban all the Turkish IPs it doesn't stop those that proxy.

The only ultimate stop is if they've done something that is a direct violation of the Internet's Terms of Use. If they have you track that IP and report it to the appropriate abuse@<domain>.<extension> they'll look into the violation and terminate the user at the source.

Happened to a friend of mine when we use to hack, actual hack not the kiddy stuff. Site caught his IP and reported to abuse@compserve.com (Think that was the ISPs abuse email). The ISP investigated saw his actions and after reported to police, he was banned from the Internet for 10 years. He tried to get on using other ISPs but parole officer would catch it and ISP was to terminate service.

I think in about another year or two his ban should finally be up.

Yea, but reporting it is useless (atleast for Turkey). They wont' do anything. If they would, you wouldn't see the mass spree of Defacments that have been goign on recently.

Still worth the try though. The ISPs can't do anything about it if they are unaware. Just got to make sure you are reporting to the right abuse email.

haha well I was gonna do the ban all of turkey thing, but yeah I forgot you can get a proxy through something like google for free use in like 2-3min annonymously
