| 3DS Max Render WIP
I found the tutorial on how to import FFXI stuff into 3DS Max today. I'v never really used 3DS Max before but I gave it a try anyways. My hair is sticking out of my hat, I dont know how to fix this. If anyone has experience with this type of thing, please let me know if you'v been able to fix the proublem. I'm going to learn about how 3DS uses materials. I plan on adding a glow effect to Promethia's arms and hands. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the tips StarvingArtist. Here is a updated WIP. I put a self-illumination map on Promethia to high-light the curves on his arms and the tips of his fingers. I tryed to make a shimmer effect around his arm (simular to what you see around the mother crystals) but I'm a complete noob when it comes to 3DS and I could not find any better tutorials then what came with it. Any suggestions are welcome. ![]()

Thanks StarvingArtist, I'll give that a try. I'v used Blender before but it's materials are exteramly simple compaired to 3DS, and render times with raytrace are not helpfull when your guessing around with materials. I'll post what I come up with latter tonight.

Just an observation, since you have to go through Meta to get from Model Viewer to 3ds anyway (at least, I haven't found a way to bypass Meta), I always edit any wayward polygons there. http://giacorleone.livejournal.com/51106.html#cutid1

It's an interesting tutorial but i try not to use META as much as possible. I have found out ways not to use it and i dont like using it because i take the raw skins and import them into 3DS to enhance them and also add bump map to them. Even if there are transparent parts to them, long as you have the alpha map to them, 3DS can fix that up. |

Ok, I got the final draft done. I gave up on the shimmer effect on Promathia's arm and just went with a blue ball of energy instead. I'm posting the large version, I resized it for my sig. Thanks for the sugestions.
