| Junior Member | Spell Swapper --- new version
The Final Fantasy XI Spell Swapper is a program created to easily allow you to swap Magic, Job Abilities, Items, et cetera without having to dig through your PlayOnline folders. You can use this program regardless of where you are from, as long as you set the correct Region. There are many new features in the latest update, in addition to the already easy-to-use system. PLEASE NOTE: The information covered in this post reffers to the new update. Any of the versions under "Old Versions" may not have many of the features listed. The Main Menu When you first open Spell Swapper, you will be asked to select your Region. This is so Spell Swapper will know where your files are located. You can change this setting later if you need to. Clicking OK will take you to the Main Menu. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...b/mainmenu.png On the main menu, you will find six buttons that will each take you to the different features in Spell Swapper: Swap Spells, Restore from Backup, What's New, Information, Settings, and Update Spell List. Clicking on one of these buttons will take you to the appropriate feature. Swapping Spells The main feature of the program is Swap Spells. On the main menu, click the button "Swap Spells," and you will be taken to the swap screen. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...mspellswap.png Selecting a spell to change: http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...lswap_list.png The Spell List is where you select which spell you wish to be changed. To select the spell, simply click on the name of the spell. The names of the spells are listed in the color of the "game" they are from. Spells listed in Black are from the original Final Fantasy XI game, spells listed in Green are from the Rise of the Zilart expansion pack, spells listed in Blue are from the Chains of Promathia expansion pact, and spells listed in Orange are from the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion pack. There are three different tools you can use to help you find a spell that you are looking for, the Sort Tabs, the Search feature, and Sort By Game. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...lswap_tabs.png The Sort Tabs are used to list spells by their category. To view each spell by category, click the tab you wish to view. Clicking "White Magic" will list each White Magic spell that you can choose from, while clicking "Black Magic" will list each Black Magic spell that you can choose from. Clicking "All" will return to showing each spell. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...wap_search.png Another tool that is used to help you find a spell is the Search tool. This is used to find specific spells, rather than a group of spells. Simply type in the name of the spell you wish to choose and click Search to see if any results match your desired spell. To return to the full list, click a Sort Tab at the top of the screen. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...lswap_game.png You can also find Spells by which "game" they are from: either the original Final Fantasy XI game, the Rise of the Zilart expansion, the Chains of Promathia expansion, or the Treasures of Aht Urghan expansion. Note: This feature is also used to remove entries from an expansion you do not have installed. For example, if you do not have Chains of Promathia checked, you will not be able to see spells located in the ROM3\ folder. However, you may still see spells listed in Blue in the spell list. This is because, colors in the spell list are according to which expansion they appear in. Some spells are located in folders from another game, but appear in another expansion. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...lectbutton.png Once you have found the spell you want to change, click this button labled Select. The name of the spell you selected will appear in the small window below the button: http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...p_selected.png If you wish to make changes to the selection of the spell you want to be changed, simply click the box containing the name of the originally selected spell. Once you have made your selection, click the Swap button, which takes place of the Select button. Restoring Spells you have Swapped You may wish to restore swapped spells to their original state. To do this, click the button Restore from Backup on the Main Menu. The Restore from Backup menu will be displayed. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...web/backup.png If you wish to restore a single spell, select it by clicking on it in the list. Then, click the Restore button. If you wish to restore all of your spells, click the Restore All button. Updating your Spell List Periodically, there are List Updates that make changes and additions to the list of spells you can choose from. To update your spell list, click the Update Spell List button on the Main Menu. This will open the Update Spell List screen. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw.../frmUpdate.png On this screen there are different bits of information displayed. The first thing listed is your program version. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...date_pvers.png This number is the version of the Spell Swapper program. The only way you can update your Program Version is by downloading it from any location where Spell Swapper is posted. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...date_lvers.png Next is your List Version. The field "Current List Version" displays the version of the spell list that you have on your computer. This is the list that is accessed when you use the program. Server List Verson is the version of the current update. If the two versions do not match, that means that there is a new version available for download. The Update Information shows information about the newest update. To download the update, click the Update List button. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...datebutton.png When you click this button, your current download status will be displayed. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellsw...te_updated.png Please do not close the program if the status is "Downloading." Finding out Whats New in List Updates If you wish to find the newly added spells for each update, or view the history of added and changed spells, click the What's New button on the Main Menu. http://www.psopower.net/ffxi/spellswap/img/web/wnew.png On this page you will find information about each update by name. The tables display information of the update, the names of each spell, the category of the spell, the Game the spell is from, and the action taken on the spell. Clicking the Return to Menu button will take you back to the Main Menu. Getting Information and Help If you encounter a problem with Spell Swapper or need help doing something, click the Information button. A page will come up with different options, including "About", "Help & FAQs," and Submit a Correction. Each page has it's own set of instructions, and at the bottom of each page is a "Return to Information Menu" link, that returns to the Information Menu page. Clicking the Return to Menu button will take you back to the Main Menu. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! Do you have the .NET framework on your computer? If you don't, you might as well get it, as Microsoft is going to really be pushing it. Download at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...7-034D1E7CF3A3 If that's not the problem, I'll try and work it out with you. |

Would just like to report that the Tachi: Jinpu for Mithra is not working properly. Seems when i try to swap it for something else, it still stays the same, even after zoning and i know this because everything else i have tried works. Just like to say though, this program is awesome. ^^ |

Oh this is fun to play with. Is there something similar that does the same thing for other dats, such as armor, weapons, etc? It should be the same thing, just using a different list file (and maybe having a 2nd path option to point it at a custom dat folder?). I like this setup, very clean.

"To run this application, you first must install one of the following versions of the .Net Framework: v2.0.50727 Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .Net Framework. I'm not good with this kind of stuff...I tried searching for it too--either no good luck or I suck at it. I really enjoy using this program. I'm still using the old one for now, so I'm not in a rush to use the new one. But any help would be most appreciated. Thanks for making an awesome program--you guys made my gameplay style more flashy and fun. XD | |
