area .dat search possible?

I've been trying to figure out how to pop a NM in oldton movapolos named Moblin wolfman for awhile now. You have to trade something to scrawled writings in the zone, and they appear randomly in a number of spots. If you click on it he says Me Thirsty. I've tried every liquid I can get my hands on but he refuses them all. Is it possible for me to somehow find out what his pop item is by checking the .datfile for oldton movapolos? As far as I know hes the only poppable NM in the game who hasnt been figured out yet.

Supposedly spawned by trading Movalpolos Water to the Scrawled Writing in the zone; exact spawn conditions are unknown. The Scrawled Writing has been seen at I-9, I-11, G-13.

Tried movalpolos water under full moon and new moon, took over windy conquest in movapolos to buy it. it doesnt work, neither in single, nor in stack or in any amount. That rumor is the only info I've been able to find too.

hence this post =p If its possible to find the trigger to ??? points in the .datfile then I wouldnt need to run through every item in the game in order to figure out how to make this work (or even if it will work at all, its possible the liquid used to pop the NM isnt in the game yet).

Have you tried it while it was under beastman control? Course, that would be really mean of SE . . . . tho they have done worse.

On quetz, if theres not a concerted effort to take over movalpolos for the water or such, its ALWAYS under beastman control. (99% of the time).. so yes.

It would be really handy with a zone-dat search program. Atleast if it also checked drops.

Nobody (well maybe some people who don't share) know how to get dragon staff, and it is best 40-51 SMN staff in the game.

Details like that aren't likely to be store in the .dat files since people could then find a way to alter them so that they can trade any item they like to the point. This sort of information will only be stored on the server.

It may be possible to look through the dat files for the language strings for that area and see if there's anything there that could give you a clue, but that's about the best change you have.

Yes, there is no way to just "recreate" the zone. The zone Dat's are jsut purely the Geometry/Layoyt (lots of polygon's and vertexs) With Texture on them.

The rest of the info would be in other files, I would do like Kafeen says, and jsut try to use like POLUtil or Peeble's Util. But last I heard SE changed soemthign in one of last patches and those didn't work now? (dunno if any new versions)

From what I've seen of them the .dats don't even store all the geometry in one place, one dat might have the bulk of the landscape, one dat will have the trees in their placements, one will have the bushes, one the insides of a building, etc. I don't know if the information to combine them all together is local or server side, either is possible really.

be nice if I could find a .dat that was just ???'s and told me what triggered them, i could work backwards from there. For now tho i'll just keep rooting around with polutils.
