I have started thinking ..with all the mods going on and things getting pushed down so far that noone checks them anymore.. I think we should make a thread with JUST .dat files and a pic....no comments or anything like that ...JUST the files ..that way if the posts become old ..at least you can find them all in one post (for all i know theres tons of cool armor in here that ill never know because...Im not going to look through all these threads to find them
for example... I dont know if its possible ive never run a forum or anything but...

say you post a dat normally where they have feedback, you comment on it etc etc... once it falls to a certain point in the forum.. it will be added to a .dat only thing..the original post will still be there but.. it will also be in the new dat only area with maybe the image, the .zip file, and a link to the original thread... would that work? Or is that even possible?

well, yes It would be easy to just add to the collection but... for people like me, who update their armor constantly or also just because it would not only make dev's dat collection job easier, but also for people who have slow connections to just download the files they wanted instead of an updated dat collection every time. I have cable so I dont mind but..It would also somewhat clean up the forums as well, as people could just browse page one of the forums for new stuff, and if they took vacation or didnt check back in a week or so, wouldnt have to worry about missing a lot of good models and such. Or maybe have another part of the forum for past work that could be alphabetized by the models name? I dunno, just throwing out ideas,this forum is awesome but... if you try looking for a certain mod that is not recent.... it can be a pain lol

You mean, instead of using the "Post your custom model here." sticky or the ".dat mod file collection" sticky, we should pander even more to the bout of recent laziness.

hmmm... no thanks. There's plenty of places JUST to post a model, and theyre already abused. Best you could so something like that, is like the one that's already on Kilandor's forum. He's the executioner of anything on there that doesn't relate and he keeps it pretty well clean.

yes but theyre full of talk and stuff, he's talking about flat out, pic/.dat, nothing else, condensed, without 20 pages to sift through, its really not that bad of an idea

Agree. I think someone else had this idea earlier, he wanted to make a .Dat collection site. (not the already existing dat collection), with Images etc.

Well for starters, it's not that hard to skim through our stickies looking for pictures and the attached links. It might take you a few more minute, nothing big.

Second, we have this great DAT collection. Every DAT has a picture along with it.

Last, on Kilandor's forum, every DAT posted for download has a picture.

It can't get any easier than that.

You'd think it'd be that easy... Hahahaha

It wasn't, actually.

Especially when the .DAT collection was first comming out. I had to sift through Japanese
websites... MMO XOOPS... Graphic Mania... but probably XOOPS was the biggest challenge
because I had to actually READ what I was downloading, and modify my PC to read Japanese
text... Plus I had to learn elementary Japanese... (If I were to speak Japanese right now,
I'd pretty much sound like I was a first-grader.)

This took about 4+ hours in one sitting... Because I had to LOAD the .DATs one by one and
rename them to their corresponding English names... Plus, I had to have enough in order
to make an actual update... That's why this stuff stretched across sometimes days at a time.

Looking at the sheer size of the collection-- which currently stands at 140+ MB-- and the
fact that now, even I have started making .DATs (Starting with Simple Retexturing like
the Super Mario Bros. DAT for Tarutaru) would be proof enough that I've put a great deal
of time into this.

About 45% of the collection is thanks to Nicolette being a good friend to me and going out
of her way to help me out. She, like me, is a student of the Japanese Language and even
went as far as to ask some of the Japanese modders herself to get .DATs to add to the
collection.

After I gained a "foothold" in the .DAT modding scene, the next thing I did was try to
encourage you people-- The NA community-- to submit what you could to me. Good,
or bad. Didn't matter to me.

I just put as much .DATs of all shapes, sizes, and varieties as I could into the file. Not
caring too much-- Being impartial about the content.

Of course, I'd get a little stressed out at times at people being upset with me for the +18
DATs in the collection--- But... ask yourselves this.

If I didn't put them in their own folder, would you have bothered to point them out at all-- let alone SAID
anything about it? And on that note, if I didn't care about what you people said, would I
have bothered to put them in their own SEPARATE folder at all? People do actually e-mail
me, ASKING for this kind of stuff, you know? I won't reveal their names, though. Out of
respect for them.

In short, as I've said before, I want to keep all audiences pleased.

That .DAT collection took a long time to build. That's why I actually logged each
session I've updated in the Update.TXT.

I'd have made a page like that... The "individual .DAT" idea you were talking about?
But doing that would've taken me far too long. Nicolette on the other hand seems to
want to do it. The most I could do would be to provide her with the webspace for it... I
have alot of webspace, and bandwidth, hahahaha.

If you want the space, or anything else like that, I can try to set something up.

That was basically my point, was that BECAUSE things are added so fast that a lot of things get "Lost in the shuffle" that its not as easy as one would think to miss a LOT of cool things. If it were that easy, You would have noticed I didnt just make the Taru cloud armor (or soldier Class one outfit to please the ones who said I should rename it) I made a hume male version, and also posted about 6 or so other outfits (mostly for hume males and from final fantasy tactics, although I did post 2 hume female outfits I think ..maybe more.. (female lancer version and a female version of shrine knight)heck Im losing track of my own crap and people wonder why I have a hard time keeping track of OTHER creations on forums XD. As for the 18+ stuff.. I dont fault you at all, and actually... my thoughts are ..if its available...then ADD it... I mean after all...its a dat COLLECTION right? that means EVERYTHING...I just meant I get sick of seeing everyone and their grandma making female dats in general ..not many make male versions anymore thats all

As for the web space.. Id love to submit my stuff but ...I dont know much about running a website so ...I couldnt run one but I can make stuff for it as far as .dats are concerned
