I use Winrar, which also allows me to do that as well; that is, go inside the file. That's treating the symptom, not the problem, however, you seem to want to fix this. Let me explain the problem. In WinXP, this is the standard directory tree for My Documents:

C:\Documents and Settings\**** *******(12 characters, my real name)\My Documents\

That's 47 characters. Before you say this is stupid and insist I extract it to C:\, please remember that some people like to keep their root directory neat and uncluttered.

Here's what REALLY kills you though.

C:\Documents and Settings\**** *******\Desktop\DeviFoxx, Rones & Nicolette Present An FFXI DAT Collection\

That folder alone brings up the count to 106 characters. 59 characters for ONE folder. It's totally unneccessary. Put it in the readme or something if you want to fluff it up.

C:\Documents and Settings\**** *******\Desktop\DeviFoxx, Rones & Nicolette Present An FFXI DAT Collection\Weapons\Katana\

This brings us to 121. Not too bad.

C:\Documents and Settings\**** *******\Desktop\DeviFoxx, Rones & Nicolette Present An FFXI DAT Collection\Weapons\Katana\Stromgarde's 'Kadaj's Katana' [As A 1-Handed Katana, Main Slot Only] (Elvaan Female)

Holy ****, forget what I said about the first line, we are at 204 now. A difference of 83 characters. Just leave my naming conventions alone next time, and if there's something in the original post that needs to be stated, such as the fact that it's for main hand only, write a short readme or something.

I apologize if I seem like I'm ranting, but I have a very austere aesthetic sense and I hate wastefulness.

Just wanted to say thank you to all you guys and girls (almost said Gals Oo) who help make this possible! You guys rock and make this game seriously less boring.

Also I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to extract parts of say an npc model to use as a pc model.

To clear that up I have the .dds and .bmp for lion's head (as we already have her armor) the only thing missing is her .mqo for her head - which is what I'd like to extract and make available for hume girls (along with a recolor of it).

The other head (which seems would be easier) is Ulmia's - I just love how her face looks.. I also love how she runs.. it's so cute

It's kind of complicated to port NPC parts to PC, particularly the face and body. there's like ten skeletons to deal with and for unique models there's no guarantee there will even be a skeletel counterpoint for it to look good (i.e. Tenzen).

Yeah - though I think Ulmia's might be easier because she seems to use the same model as the similar Elvaan Female PC face (F6). I might try her's to see if it works.

For the most part you're right; there are some minor differences, such as shape of the nose, and position of the hair. The UV maps are identical, however, making it very simple with just photoshop and Meta.

This made me wonder... is it possible to get the head of the Mithra Chieftainness? I've always liked her hairstyle.

I know the headdress is in the .dat collection already. The kazham chieftainess has head f2-a for mithra, so I assume you mean Perih vashai or something in windurst. As far as I know, noones modded that yet, so might be a nice project.

Yeah, that's the one! If only someone could merge Perih Vashai's hairstyle with face 5B, I'd probably never stop playing my Mithra. (Well, I might, but it will be more painful...)

Would that be possible?? Does anyone know? I like that face, and think it would look better than having someone run around with closed eyes.

*edit* btw, if you look at her name in the model viewer, it says Perih Vashai, Windurst Chieftainness. I thought that's who she was...

She is. There's two different Chieftainesses, you know.

A Windurstian one, and a Kazham one.

The Kazham Mithras don't like the Windurst Mithras because they left Kazham to go help
out the Tarutaru tribes. They don't "recognize" them because they left their homeland of
Kazham...

(In the Vana'diel Tribune, they however hinted that there's a true "Mithran Motherland"
that's even FURTHER south than Kazham... An entire continent. Aside from hinting at the
"land to the east". We may get to go there when 'Treasures of Aht Urghan' comes out.)
