"African American" Hume - Need feedback

Ok, now before you start jumping on me for being racism... know that I am not. My best friend is black and asked me why the hell FFX didnt have any black people in it. I told them that I didnt know... and it got me to thinking that I could make him a .dat that was a black guy. I figure... couldnt hurt to try atleast ^^

Please do not take any offense by this attempt as it was not intended to make fun of or insult anyone of a different race (especially any black people).

Please give feed back so that I can fix whatever issues there are and I can perfect this.

Wow, actually that's very good. I don't think anyone would take offense to that.

Re: "African American" Hume - Need feedback

That's really good, actually.

For me the age-old question of why there are no African-American Humes can be answered simply; there is no Africa or America in Vana'diel. Humes are not necessarily "Human," and because their evolutionary history does not involve mixed relationships between smaller tribes from around their world like our own, their culture and physical characteristics are simply not as diverse as our own. When you think of it, there aren't even any "Asian humes." They're simply a general race of people.

Re: "African American" Hume - Need feedback

I appreciate the thought and would gladly use that .dat if i wasnt Taru ^^ Haha, ty for taking into consideration the texture of "our" hair that is usually called knaps XD. You did a really awsome job!

FFXI actually doesnt really have a diverse, albeit generic, selection of races. . . But FFXI isnt widely regarded for their deep character creation In general, 6 of the faces for Hume Males are Caucasian (sp?) and 2 are otherwise. Number 6 being the Native American and number 8 being the Asian.

I've found that while it would be nice to have an in-game persona that you can call your own, or have similarities to you, the point of a MMORPG isnt to play as yourself is it? If it was, wouldnt we lose the RPGish elements that the founders of D&D created?!?

Oh, and try making a variation of that character with waves in his hair. If you arent sure what waves are supposed to look like, then you can use my Deviant page as reference, where I shamefully am showing off mine >.>;;;

you got the hair and color. I think the proportion can be adjusted a little more. From what I see african-american people will have more egg shape head with thicker lips. and very noticable chin pointing out.
there's more but i can't think about them out of my head but hey search up google and get some reference :D

Yeah, I was thinking that the chin and head shape were off, myself, but I'm a bit groggy this early in the morning. I'd be happy to model off myself if you need some head shots (no sniping puns, please ; ; )

It looks ok to me. *is a real black guy* Perhaps you could just copy wesley snipes or someone.

No need to get it "perfect." Not all of us have egg shaped heads or noticable chins (where'd these come from? Are we related to Jay Leno?). But yeah, I suggest just looking up pictures on the web. Whenever non-african-americans try to make up an african-american face, they often get it wrong. The woman who killed her 2 kids and tried to say a black man abducted them is a prime example.

Lack of a black character on FFXI is the reason I chose my avatar, Hume 6-A.

Re: "African American" Hume - Need feedback

thats really good, its cool someone thought of that. i was listening in in a jp pt while someone was afk or something and the jps were talking me, slightly rudely, about how all the models looked american and how they hated they didn't look more asian and it made me think that the humes aren't human, they resemble caucasian humans, but are humes. and its kinda obvious that SE actually gave this thought, if they weren't going to created a new race, they would have probably made most of them asian as the jps in my pt wished they had.

I agree with all the above posters... a very nicely and tastefully done job. I've never done any .dat swapping before but I would love to put these into the game.

Re: "African American" Hume - Need feedback

looks really good! But remember that almost every other race has brown eyes. He has blue eyes.. really Caucasions are the only race with differant color eyes... You shuld make him have darker eyes. But his eye color does make that armor look nice!

Re: "African American" Hume - Need feedback

I was gonna nitpick the eyes too. But since Vana'diel is a fantasy world, I decided not to. Remember it doesn't have to be perfect. ruffrydasean, whazzaaaaaaaaaaaaap... ^^
