This is a model viewer for FFXI. You can see different race/gender and view any equipment model regardless of job.

Edit: The most common error people have when trying to run this program is due to Japanese language settings on their computer.

1 - First, before extracting/installing the program, your Windows must be set to Japanese Language as default. Restart computer.

2 - Extract the contents of FFXImodelviewer.zip. The .lst files should be in Japanese text (right half of picture). If not, make sure your default language is set to Japanese.

FFXImodelviewer.zip must be extracted AFTER your language is set to Japanese. If you change the language settings after extraction, the model viewer will not be able to read the .lst files = only heads, missing armor, scrambled interface, or other errors.

Got to this part, not sure what the next step is.

It's pretty straightforward. If you've used 3D apps before most of the controls are similar.

Left Mouse or direction arrows = Pan
Right Mouse or Ctrl + direction arrows = Rotate
Page Up/Page Down = Zoom
Ctrl + Right Mouse or 2 4 6 8 on Num Pad = Move Light
Space Bar = Center

The Second Menu on top has relavent options. I don't know what the List File option is for yet. To reset screen size, you need to restart the application.

I think there are options to output the model as a .mqo file that can be further editied in another 3D App. Even if I did know how to full do it, I won't explain it here as it is leading towards altering your actual data files. If you choose to do so at your own risk, I will not be responsible if you mess up your installation. Note - this application in itself will not alter the models/textures, it is only a viewer/exporter.

I'm having a problem runnning the program itself

I unzip it to a directory in my C drive, but it gives me an error message in Japanese then pops up the error report message box ; ;

If your default Regional Encoding is not set to Japanese, it "may" have problems running this application.

All regional/language settings are set to Japanese (thanks to a mind-numbing experience with Vanahand) yet it still won't work.
