I've been playing 4 years, I left on a long hiatus for two years, and just now came back. I was just now introduced to the increased xp, the books, and the sync. I didn't know how long they have been in effect, but I know they changed leveling dramaticlly. This may no longer be a PARTY BASED game. Sub whm or dnc(excellent solo it seems) and you CAN solo, ANYONE.

So you want to do what every DRK already does + Thunder spells, and pretend your being unique, awesome! So pretty much all this means that minus your occasional awesome unique Thunder nuking, you'll be doing what every other DRK does, which is, GASP, what everyone has been informing you on! Also, moron, Level Sync = partying. Need at least 2 people to do that, and the 2 people have to be in a, wait for it, PARTY. Using that to try and say this isn't a party based game proves only further that are you indeed a moron.

I don't think any drks cast multiple absorbs, spikes, bio, multiple drains, multiple aspirs, and multiple thunders per fight. I talking nuking, but not the cast, kneel type. I want to expend that mana or a very large chunk. Now if that whats drks do now, which it isn't, you should ahve said so. That's not what anyone said, it was the atypical "/THF /WAR PLOX OR GTFO".

I clearly stated what I was asking, why your a moron is beyond me, but please, keep up this assault. I'm loling too.

Also, moron, its not nearly as party only based. You used to wait for a pt for a long time, you used to not be able to solo unless you were rdm/nin or bst. Period. Now with increased easy prey and decent challenge xp, anyone can solo. Waiting times for pts have dramatically decreased, and with level sync more pt spots are available, with the ability to gain xp form ANYWHERE, no longer your typical areas. I know what a party is and I understand sync. Your to fucking critical. You knew exactly what I mean, party intensive.

I like DRK/WHM for the dunes. You're likely to pull hate anyway from that big ass scythe/sword and it's not like DRK's elemental magic is actually worth casting @ - @;

better off putting that MP towards cures for tanking/downtime. RNG makes a pretty killer sub from 20-29 for the +10 accuracy bonus (helps land those acid bolts!)

Did you see my Returning post? Read it. It explains everything. I have one year of actual play experience and as for my lvls, well I've took a mnk to sky, so.... Yes a master of the starting classes.

The "I pay to play my way" mentality doesn't work in this game.

It's all about everyone doing the best they can to get as much XP/HR and cause as much damage to a mob as they can.

Getting an attitude with veteran players because you want to nuke on your Dark Knight isn't going to help.

Here's why it's LOL to use elemental nukes with DRK:

The highest tier spell a DRK can get:

Thunder II

Thunder II on my BLACK MAGE does ~300 DMG.

That's Black Mage...with my Elemental Magic Capped at 276 (278 if you count my lol 1 merit in Elemental Magic).

DRK has a B+ in Elemental Magic, which caps Elemental Magic at 256 at 75.

You're going to get a shit ton of resists with that on level 75 mobs. (For less DMG, prolly 160ish if you're lucky w/o a resist)

Now, take a look at the fabled DRK/SAM with a haste setup and desperate blows merited:

You can achieve amazing Haste percentage, meaning you will strike very fast.

Hasso: 10% Haste, and +STR

Meditate: Free 60% TP...

Third Eye + Seigan: Gives you shadows, so if you pull hate, you won't take much damage.

Drain Spells: DRK has an A+ skill in Dark Magic (Your Absorb Spells, Stun..) You can Drain Accuracy (to hit the mob with), STR (to add to your own +STR), and drain TP (lowers the mob's TP, and Raises yours)

My DRK/SAM buddy has a fully merited DRK, and when I merit with him, he does a FUCK ton of DMG.

But let's look at more Cons of casting elemental magic while you're a DRK.

You NEED to use MP, meaning casting will drain your MP pool....which means the RDM will have to refresh you (which the MP could be used doing other things). Or the BRD will have to use Pianissimo and Ballad, which means, you'll be missing out on Attack + Haste Songs....your DMG will be lower per round.

Also, the whole "It's easier to solo".....seeing as how you don't have a job above the 30s yet. I'll fill you in. 60+ you're gonna start needing 20,000 XP to level. At 74-75, you will need 42,000 XP to solo.

Soloing a DC mob 60+ Takes a LOT of time. It takes me 12+ minutes to solo an EM crab on my RDM/NIN in the Boyahda tree.

You COULd be a DRK/SAM FUCKING things up at that point, gettng 15-20,000 XP an hour.

Or you could spend forever soloing 60 XP per mob.

You could also spend 6 months to take a job from 30-75 (like my friend's BLU).

The choice is yours...but let me make a quick analogy:

You can try to be different, but just like in the real world.

The kid who's different from everyone else will look at the "normal" kids having fun, and say "Why don't they want to play with me?"

That'll happen endgame, where FFXI meets Srsbsns (Serious Business). People will just laugh and turn down your applications to endgame LSs, because you don't have proper subjobs.
